  1. There other night, I had a dream that Thistle were interviewing for new managers. One of the candidates being interviewed was a red squirrel with Stuart McCall's voice. Seems like a decent candidate - anyone got contact details?
  2. We've lost so many games this season where it hasn't even been a competition; Rangers, Motherwell, Killie, Dundee, Hearts, tonight. Not even close.
  3. Jagzone was hard to listen to at half time. Almost like they thought we were likely to get back into it. This delusional optimism is why we have accepted such a poor standard all season. Other clubs don't. Can we re-brand, "Cuddlier than ever before!"
  4. Can we sack Archie at half time and appoint Kris Doolan?
  5. I'm actually quite angry for the first time this season (previously just apathetic/resigned). The team selection and tactics are absolutely pish. We have lined up scared of our opposition in every game this season. Every team selection/tactical approach is a response to the other teams characteristics, not a vote of confidence in our own players' ability. Archibald picks a poor/non-optimal lineup from a poor squad (picked by him) to play poor tactics. Why the **** is Ryan Scully our number 2? Could have told you about 3/4 years ago that he was about junior superleague level. We've just gone 2-0 down to another poor goal.
  6. Everyone already knows that Danny Devine is totally pish though. Osman was good at one point. Devine would be playing League 1 football if we hasn't surrounded by better(ish) players. If he played for Airdrie now, he wouldn't stand out.
  7. I didn't go but just watched the 2nd half on Jagzone. Observations: - Disallowed goal: wasn't it put over the line by Devine, in which case it's not offside? I don't think Storey - despite going for the ball - interfered as he wasn't in front of the Hibs defender. - Goal 1: Cargill too slow, Devine lost his man again. - Goal 2: Osman too bothered about fouling his man, as usual. Scully's attempt to save it reminded me a lot of junior league goals I've seen this season. Slow, loopy headers that don't go in the corner and bounce in the goal before they hit the net should not be going in in the Premier Division. Why do we still have Ryan Scully? - Devine Sending-off: Yellow card. - General: Devine boots the ball away/up in the air every time it comes to him. He is playing League One (Scottish) football in the Premier Division. Cargill also looks slack on the ball most of the time.
  8. What are everyone's top 3 Thistle moments? I'll go first. 1 - The 2 minutes or so at Ibrox when we were beating Rangers in the cup in c.2007/2008 after Damon Gray's goal. The rendition of OLAS was about as loud as I've ever heard. 2 - The celebrations in the Thistle end when Billy Gibson's deflected free kick went in in Peterhead in injury time of the playoff final. 3 - 1-0 vs Morton in 2013 or 2014 in front of 9,000 odd at Firhill. Other contenders: Doolan's injury time of extra time equaliser in the Challenge Cup final, when Moorhead had missed a penalty moments before. Great celebrations in the Thistle end. I still like watching the youtube videos. The Thistle away support at Ayr in the cup quarter final in about 1999/2000. Huge away support of 3000+ for what was a 'big' game at the time. Away end sold out and so I ended up in the home end. 4-0 at Broadwood in about 2007/08. Alex Burns equaliser in the League Cup at Parkhead in about 2003. All good stuff.
  9. An observation that Alan Archibald's post-match interviews read like match reports. We don't need told what happened; we saw it. We need feedback on why it happened and what's going to happen next. It's almost like the games happen to him...
  10. I see that Doolan is now creeping his way up the all time scorers charts. It's quite possible for him to be our third top goalscorer of all time , with a outside chance of second top, by the time he finishes. Willie Sharp 229 1939–1957 Willie Paul 186 1884–1899 George Smith 125 1953–1964 Jimmy Walker 121 1946–1957 Johnny Torbet 116 1924–1933 Kris Doolan 106 2009– Willie Newall 101 1938–1945 Dougie Somner 101 1974–1979 Davie Ness 97 1923–1935
  11. I agree with this entirely. These two are a big part of our problems. If you watch the highlights carefully, in every game Barton gives the ball away and then does next to nothing to get it back and Devine mishits a clearance putting our defence (or worse goalkeeper or goal) under pressure.
  12. His own teammate runs into him tracking one of our players.
  13. Just read his interview. -He seemed to almost concede the Celtic game before it had been played (3 points were available, the same as vs Hamilton). -He talks about fatigue, like the team look like they're putting in a lot of effort. They don't play at a high tempo or press so there's no excuse for 'fatigue'. Barton is woeful. He lets his man go every time the other team make a move. Watch the first clip on the BBC highlights vs Celtic. He's a liability.
  14. Balatoni was absolutely brilliant today. Stevenson was very dependable and took on the burden of being a senior player very readily - impressed. Lindsay was good but poor header for their second. I thought Keenan was very good. Better than Carroll has been this season. Pretty good, but I often think we look worse than we are because of our approach to games - i.e. sitting back - which is probably more down to AA than the individual players. Bannigan used to be better than he is now and this seems to be because he's not given licence to push forward/pass expansively.
