  1. Do us all a favour and drop the subject at this moment in time, out of respect for the clubs owner!
  2. Was tremendous today. MOTM with Kakay not far behind!! Several excellent performances today
  3. Totally agree. A very sad way to end the year. A man that did what any true supporter would do, given the magnitude of his wealth, yet still, unbelievably, had to bear the brunt of criticism from certain posters and so called supporters. RIP Colin

Correct! No one knows what the future will hold. It could be one of the most exciting things to have ever happened to our club or it could be the total opposite. If it’s the latter, I am sure you won’t be slow on the trigger. Time will tell but it’s happened, so everyone that professes to be a supporter of the club, should get right behind it!

Trust Beattie, trust the board, trust the shareholders to do the right thing has been your mantra for the last 3/4 months JJ. Why has all that changed tonight? If it goes tits up is Beattie and his cohorts absolved of all blame? Are they not on record as saying they will have the best interests of the club at hand regarding the sale of the club? Time for you to accept the facts instead of going over and over and over the same points again. For what it’s worth, I think it’s a big challenge and a lot will depend on the make up of the board but given the choice of the two bids on the table I, for one, am happy with the outcome.

Quote in paper this morning ONE of the consortium trying to buy Partick Thistle has blasted the SFA for blocking the takeover. Paul Conway says Hampden red tape will force New City Capital to look elsewhere. Of their current ownership of Barnsley, he said: “We consider Barnsley the best-run club in English football.” He forgets to mention the Tykes are second-bottom of the Championship and heading for relegation.

Bit pointless, he doesn’t go to any games anyway!

I certainly haven’t read that anywhere and if indeed it’s true, it’s an unbelievable offer from Colin Weir and one that no club in Scotland, out with the top 5 clubs, could, or indeed would, knock back, never mind a club that is at the bottom of the championship!!

That’s why I added in maybe JJ is expecting Colin Weir to build and gift the training ground as well. Where the £10-12m quote comes from is anyone’s guess!!
  10. Lindau

    New Owner

Well JJ seems to think it’s between 10-12m. Be good if he gave an explanation as to how he came to that figure unless he thinks Colin Weir is going to build the training ground and gift that as well

Due to the consortiums total lack of communication to the trusts and our supporters, the only thing we can look at is how the supporters of their other clubs view/viewed them. Demonstrations by supporters at Nice to get them out happened, as they appeared unhappy at the amount of debt the consortium was racking up at the clubs expense and the excessive interest rates they were paying on the debt. Why do billionaires have to take out loans in the first place? Barnsley fans, going by their forums, appear about 80/20 against. Selling their best assets and replacing them with young untried talent, in the hope that they can unearth a gem and flog them at a nice profit ASAP. Whereas there are a lot of questions TFE have to answer they look the safest bet out of the two in my opinion.

Barnsley fans not happy. Cant blame them, they were awful. Young side with no experienced heads to guide them! http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/board-out.283652/

Watching the Barnsley v Brentford game on Sky. Stated at beginning that both sets of fans disgruntled with lack of investment after selling a lot of their best players at the end of last season. Interesting that the Barnsley teams average age is 22 which is very low for a championship side. They do seem to be lacking a few experienced players at that level. 1-1 at HT
  15. Think this confirms my mates info!! https://seasontickets.celticfc.net/important-information/home-cup-ticket-scheme/
  16. I have been informed by my Celtic mate that Celtic operate a home cup ticket scheme where you are guaranteed tickets to any home cup game up to and including the quarter final. They have 28,000 members in the scheme!! You get a ticket whether you go or not and your bank account is debited. My mate is a member of the scheme. That means before anything else happens we are guaranteed a share of a minimum 28,000 gate, even if less than 20,000 turn up, never mind the Celtic fans that go and are not in the scheme and the jags fans that go. I reckon this was the reason that no official attendance was given at their game v Dunfermline. No excuses for the board not to fund a couple of players before the window shuts, considering we appear to have already made £90,000 by reaching the quarter finals. Correct Mr Beattie?

Thats the way it comes out when you copy and paste a press article. I am not computer literate enough to know how to change that!

Is Cannon part of a comedy double act? What a load of balls!! Absolutely nothing new in that statement other than to emphasise the fact that this takeover is far from certain to go ahead and it would be nice for Cannon to give his views on what will happen at the club if it doesn’t! Meanwhile another statement in the press today from a press pundit. Maybe we can get the Jag from Jordanhill to do the kissing!! UNLIKE some Maryhill dreamers, I see no upside in the takeover of Partick Thistle by billionaire Chien Lee’s company. After 143 years of independence, why would Thistle want to become a feeder club for Barnsley? Players being forced upon Gary Caldwell and removed when it suits the parent company? No way to run any football club. Jags chairman David Beattie should be breaking his neck to get former benefactor Colin Weir back onside. If that requires Beattie to kiss the Euro millionaire’s backside, he should pucker up.

Looks to me as if Beattie pulled the funding at a moments notice for the 4 players Caldwell wanted to complete his squad!!

Put it another way then, show me a post in this whole thread where you have praised anything Colin Weir has done for the club. You are like a programmed robot, for 120 pages you have just repeated the same things, over and over and over. I will go back to my semi retirement from this site still awaiting answers to these What happens if this takeover doesn’t happen? If it doesn’t, will Beattie and Co fund a January promotion or relegation transfer window? Why did the shareholders say they were happy with the way the club was being run by the old board? What other club in Scotland would chase away a multi millionaire fan that funded the academy, cleared the club’s debt, probably on occasion helped the club out and didn’t ask for anything in return?

Sorry mate I have rectified that. I agree with your post but the rest of the rant was aimed at our resident jag from Jordanhill!!

Exactly! From the minute you (JJ) posted on this thread it’s clear you have no time for Weir, or his 6 numbers (actually it was 7) or what he has done for the club. That’s fair enough, that’s your entitlement. I am still waiting to hear who out there will be interested in funding the club/academy if this takeover falls through because it’s clear Beattie and Co don’t want to be involved. Think that should worry any Jags supporter more than Colin Weir being involved
  23. Lindau

    New Owner

Its clear JJ that you want your old board pals to get as much money as they can get their hands on by selling the club to an unknown quantity. I get that. What I don’t get is your constant undermining of Weir and what he has done for the club and why him being involved in the club is not the way any club should be run, when not one club in Scotland, bar Celtic, would not want him involved at their club.

A deficit that needs to be plugged urgently so they can sell the club to a multi billionaire consortium. Now we are told that is more unlikely to happen than happen. That worries me more than Colin Weir giving us occasional hand outs. Lets see what the AGM comes up with regarding this deficit.
