  1. My recollection of him with us was that he was the kind of player that played well when the team played well but was noticeably absent when we needed some fight. Scored some great goals.
  2. I don’t get it. They aren’t the only team that have someone with a long throw.
  3. The defence looked much more solid and it was disappointing we lost the goal at the end. We should’ve had 3 or 4 by that point though and they wouldn’t have scored if Zander hadn’t had a brain freeze a few moments beforehand. The win was the most important thing, though.
  4. Although I suggested the possibility of playing McBeth at Centreback and Neilson in midfield, why don’t we go back to the system and personnel that was so fruitful in November, December and January
  5. You replied to Norge who was replying to Javea. He asked “Can we keep the goals against to one”
  6. The question wasn’t about clean sheets, though.
  7. Although, it has only been one in each of the last two at Firhill.
  8. As Westertonjagfan is having a cup of coffee, I will just nip in and start the match thread. What does Doolan try next ? McBeth looked ok when he replaced Muirhead at centre back. Assuming Muirhead is fit, maybe a McBeth Muirhead combination with Stanway and Neilson in midfield ?
  9. I don’t have much to argue against this. Although, I would say it is a while since we have had a really balanced squad. Last season it wasn’t until Doolan came in that we started getting shut outs. Regarding point 4, I’ve said it before he changed something that he had already fixed. Between October and end Jan we conceded only 16 goals in 13 games. So, why did he change it ?
  10. It sounds like a simple and logical thing to do, but the people we had on the park and the bench are those that are available for him to pick from. He tried something different against Dundee Utd and it was almost successful. Williams got injured. So that trial was aborted. He tried Milne at Centre back vs QP, which didn’t really work, but Adeloye coming on sparked a come back but he got injured. What would you do next ?
  11. Going by that I guess Neilson will be back in central defence and Milne at left wing back.
  12. Or not available for personal reasons?
  13. A little over 24 hours to kick off. Assuming no injuries from last week, I guess Doolan will go with the same team as last week. Hopefully the additional week working this set up improves our attacking options as well. QP are a different proposition under Davidson so we will need to be at the top of our game. Time for us to get back on winning ways.
  14. I think pretty much every result matters in such a wee league. I think that’s 3 games that Morton have had the chance to go above us and failed. After our form in the playoffs last season, it is hard to see how a team finishing 3rd/4th gets promoted.
  15. Thought everyone played well today. Was really pleased with Williams performance and McBeth’s. We didn’t create too many chances but might well have had a couple of goals at the end of the 1st half. We struggled in the 2nd half and it was no surprise that they scored. Docherty and Moult might well have been sent off.
  16. I think their support was down a good bit - looked to be only about 1000 or so
  17. We have been scoring all season. In the first 13 games since the league started up to the end of October, we scored 22 and conceded 25. In the next 13 up to the Airdrie game we scored 28 and conceded 16. You can see why I am struggling to see what needed fixed. He maybe thought bringing in McBeth would improve us again, but it hasn’t. So, let’s get back to what was working best and for me, unfortunately that means dropping McBeth.
  18. You get my logic. That lightweight poor midfield was getting results.
  19. Again, you haven’t read what I said. We had a problem up to October when we were losing a lot of goals. That was largely fixed between November and February apart from a couple of games vs Raith and Dundee Utd. So, he tried to do something that he thought would get us closer to Dundee Utd and Raith Rovers. That ship has sailed. We have now lost 2 games in a row, something we hadn’t done this season, lost to 2 more teams we hadn’t done this season. Why shouldn’t he try going back to what had us safely in 3rd spot ?
  20. Until Doolan works out how to get the rest of the team to work better with McBeth in the team, he should be dropped. He wasn’t slow to drop Stanway and McKenzie after the Arbroath game. The facts remain that from November in that 13 game period we won 8 and drew 3 games. If it’s not broke don’t fix it, comes to mind.
  21. I don’t think I should. From November until the Livingston game we had lost more than 1 goal in a game only 3 times out of 13 games. Since McBeths introduction it’s 3 times in 3 games. You can’t ignore the facts.
