  1. Awrite Sigesige00, didn't realise you followed Clyde for a while: http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=149&fid=83&sty=2&act=1&mid=2143290576
  2. Hit the nail on the head there mate. The club wouldn't be so irresponsible to sign Thompson as two of the factors keeping the us alfloat (crowds, sponsorship) would be affected by this. If I was Thompson I would be looking for some professional help rather than another football club. As for the Adam Strachan comment, his behaviour when at Firhill was nowhere near as bad as Thompsons. Yes, he acting like a wee ned by getting into trouble but his behaviour is typical of some young men growing up in Glasgow. The club hoped he would grow out of it as most people do, sadly he didn't.
  3. The Walkers stadium is impressive, however, on the two occasion when I attended I didn't think the fans created a good atmosphere. That even included Svens first game v Hull. As you say tickets wern't cheap, particularly for championship level football. Derby is expensive as you say, put me off going, particularly as they are struggling at the moment. I would wait till next season to watch Leicester, I reckon they will be challenging for promotion as they will spend in the summer.
  4. I recently moved to Loughborough in the east midlands six months ago. I have attended Notts County, Notts Forest, Leicester City and Birmingham City games since I have been here. The standard of football is better and I enjoyed some of the games. I am quite sad in that I enjoy visiting different football grounds. However, its not the same without an emotional attachment to a team (i.e. Thistle) playing. Saying that the Birmingham v Chelsea game I attended was excellent for atmosphere and technical ability of the players (mainly Chelseas) involved. I will be attending the Milwall v Leeds game at the New Den a week on Saturday. Expecting a tasty encounter!
  5. I started this thread to comment on allegations that a Brazilian player was racially abused during the Scotland game yesterday. Your post seemed to suggest that the player should get on with it as abuse is a part of life. Personally, I don't think this is the best attitude to dealing with racism. If a person doesn't agree with racist abuse directed to them they have every right to highlight it. No one is greeting about anything, my post just asked you a question. I know this won't stop world racism, no one was claiming that, we are just discussing a talking point from yesterday game. Ya specky prick
  6. I thought so, I have read you posts regarding the OF and sectarianism and didn't think you would condone racism
  7. Maybe I am misreading the last two comments, are you saying that racist abuse is something a footballer should put up with? I am not saying that yesterdays incident was racially motivated, seems inconclusive to me.
  8. It is plural because he claimed the booing was racial abuse as well not just the bannana incident. Could have been a neutral although it is natural to assume oposition fans through the bannana. As I said it came from an end 95% full of Brazilian fans. I would have imagined the throw would have been accompanied by some sort of racial abuse and surrounding fans would have heard and created an incident, this didn't happen. TBH the chances of it being a neutral, if it was racially motivated, are slim, there were not many neutrals at that end of the ground (almost everyone was wearing colours of some sort). Our best evidence about it not being a Scotland fan is the fact it was a piece of fruit, how many self respecting Scotsmen go to a game of football and buy a bannana
  9. I don't know about that, Neymar has been tipped as one of the up and coming young Brazilian players for the Copa America and the next World Cup. He started today and looked impressive. I am sure scouts of European clubs will already be aware of him. In addition, is doesn't explain Lucas' comments on the matter I think he has either got the wrong idea, gone in the huff because he was given pelters (relatively minor it has to be said, just a bit of booing when on the ball) or someone did through a bannana at him in a racially motivated manner.
  10. This is a rough translation of the article: Brazil;s win over Scotland on Sunday, London was not only feasting and rejoicing. During the game at the Emirates Stadium, a banana peel was thrown toward Neymar (watch the video next to SporTV). It is the third episode of racism in just over a week in European football. Recently, Roberto Carlos side of Anzhi, Russia, and Marcelo, Real Madrid, were harassed by Zenit fans and Atletico Madrid, respectively, with discriminatory acts. - This climate of racism is totally sad. We go out of our country, comes to play here and this happens. I;d rather not touch it, not to turn a snowball - the very Neymar said in an interview with SporTV. Midfielder Luke also complained. - Racism has no place in the world. In Europe, which is said to be the first world, where it happens most - Lucas complained that defends Liverpool after the match.
  11. http://globoesporte.globo.com/futebol/selecao-brasileira/noticia/2011/03/neymar-e-alvo-de-racismo-durante-vitoria-do-brasil-sobre-escocia.html Neymar has claimed Scottish fans racially abused him during todays game and throw a bannana at him. I was at the game and Scottish fans bood him for going down too easy, no other coloured Brazil players were given pelters. Didn't see the bannana throwing incident but it came from an end populated by Brazil fans although some Scottish fans were present. IMO there was a good atmosphere at todays game, particularlt beforehand with both sets of fans enjoying themselved together. But I suppose it only takes one idiot.
  12. Cheers mate, a 0-0 away to a promotion chasing side, with us having nothing to play for, is an alright start to the weekends football. I am expecting a typical Scotland hard fought performance with Brazil winning 2-0 unfortunately. Still undecided over Levein, I think without the second half performace against Spain he would be under more pressure. Not convinced that the recent friendly results are quite so postive as the media and some of the fans are making out; NI were rotten and the Faroes, well we should be beating them comfortably at home regardless who is mananager. Though, I am the same as you, will give him time and there are shoots of recovery with regards to the depth of our squad looking healthier. We still lack forward options though.
  13. Aye, I'm heading down. Getting the 7.20 train from Loughborough to St pancras then walking it/getting a tube up to the emirates. I know what you mean about the early start and the clocks going forward too. Hopefully I will have woken up by the time I arrive in London lol! Enjoy the game!
  14. Going to the game tommorow and really looking forward to it. Can't see us geeting a result, more excited about the occasion than anything else. Bardsley is definately out, he didn't travel with the squad to La Manga.
  15. This post perfectly sums up the Old Firm. The people who buy into this Irish/British idea associated with both clubs lack individual thought, because they support a certain football club doesn't mean they have to hold certain political or religous views. An ironic tit for tat 'we are better fans than you' has emerged in recent years i.e. 'scotlands shame' and rangers fans ridiculously over the top poppy display following from the 'no blood stained poppy banner'. Despite their hatred for each other, OF fans are a lot more similiar than they think. The funny thing is a lot of them are to ignorant/blind to see this. When you explain to people in England the protestant/ catholic side of the rivalry they look on in bemusement i.e. what has this got to do with football and society in the 21st century.
