  1. That's because they have good players, especially Ross. Great win against Spartans tonight. Boyce is proving to be a very good acquisition. 5th place is definitely on now. Assuming Hibs fail to take points versus Rangers and Celtic and we also suffer the same lack of success 5th place will come down to our home game against Hibs. Win and 5th os almost assured. Well done to PT Ladies and of course the management and coaches etc. What a season you are having!
  2. Agree completely with the above. I think BBG will embrace the toughness of this tie and instill into his team that they should enjoy and be positive about it. If we can start on the front foot we can win this tie. What a season the women are having: - a confirmed second top 6 in the league - a cup final v Rangers - a scottish cup quarter final. The women shouldn't have any problems with belief or confidence given the above achievements.
  3. Yes very impressed by the QP no.20. - would be a good summer signing for us. I also thought our keeper was very good. Two very good saves which showed her agility (to get up to the postage stamp corner)and super quick reactions (saving a shot from about 10 yards). Her handling of the ball llooked secure, assured and confident. looks like we are achieving strength in depth in our squad. Very best of luck in the next round and on Wednesday night v Spartans.i
  4. As much as I liked Lyle Taylor I think he is now at Cambridge Utd. So even if he was willing to come back to The Jags I doubt we could afford him. Anyway I think we are OK for Strikers given Doolan won't play two up front.
  5. I agree Dennis was magical. I saw a young McQuade absolutely twist and turn young Danny McGrain inside out in a reserve match at Firhill v Celtic. I think the score was 1-1. He was also brilliant in the League Cup Semi-Final v Falkirk and I think he scored both goals in a 2-0 victory. A great Jag!
  6. I like all three but given a choice my preference would be would prefer Houston (1st choice) or McQuade (2nd). I thought Houston was the more consistant and without checking his goal tally had more goal threat! I didnt think Lawrie was as good as Houston or McQuade. As far as Messi and Ronaldo are concerned I just don't see either being able to do the business in a Jags Jersey. I think they would both be overwhelmed by the experience and responsibility.
  7. The final 4 fixtures are shown below. If all goes acvording to plan 5th place post split is a definitely possible. Jags v Spartans could be tricky. Hearts away to Dundee utd could be their tricky game while Hibs away to the Jags will be a hard game for them. It could all come down to the Jags v Hibs to decide 5th place. Hibs v Dundee Utd, Celtic, Jags & Rangers Hearts v Rangers, Aberdeen, Montrose & Dundee Utd Jags v Spartans (A), Rangers (H). Hibs (H) & Celtic (A). Assumption 1. Hibs beat Dundee Utd and we beat Spartans; Assumption 2. Neither Hibs or Jags don't take any points from Rangers and Celtic I haven't made any assumptions about Hearts as I expect them to win 3 of there last 4 games. If these assumptions are correct then 5th place post split will be secured As follows: 4th Hearts 42 points 5th Jags 39 points 6th Hibs 38 points. C'mon the Jags
  8. Well I don't disagree with you but I also know what I read and I have reported that accurately. As far as Beth is concerned I am sure she oresented Brian Graham's and the Club's position eloquently and effectively. You will note I did summarise by saying well done to all involved.
  9. No disrespect to Graham who will be 37 yrs next season but I would like our main strikers to be Adeloye and Diack, in a 3-5-2 formation, with Graham as our back up striker. We may well need to sign another striker. Yes agree wit uou. Thomas would be a good signing as he would be a good addition as he can play wide and, as he has shown against us, has a nose for hoal. Paton would also be a good buy but if we could swing both then we would be top heavy up front and probably "skint"!
  10. I spotted only yesterday a statement made at the time of setting the cup final date that the SWPL said "the final will be played on Saturday 23rd or Sunday 24th March"! So although common sense has prevailed credit should be given to the SWPL for allowing themselves the scope to be flexible. Well done to all concerned including Hearts and Rangers FC. C'mon the Jags!
  11. Well God and Brian Graham had different ideas.
  12. Surprised this thread has been started so early in the week. I suppose this reflects the burst of enthusiasm that is generated when the Jags not only win a game but do so in style.. Airdrie away is a tough game but so too was Morton. I think though we have to win this game and not lose ground to RR & DU. To do that we are going to have to start on the front foot and keep it going We all know if we do this we will score goals! I would muscle up the team by bring in Diack, Adeloye and O'Reilly and put Graham, Lawless and Muirhead on the bench. Graham and Lawless could come on for the final 20/25 mins if needed. I would be surprised if Doolan will change a winning team, excepting O'Reilly for Muirhouse, and who would blame him. 3 points for the Jags.
  13. Are there any rumours about further signings? Do we have anyone 'in the know'? January is passing quickly!!
  14. I liked Rudden in his last season with us as he added goals to his hard work. He was always committed to the cause. However I felt he was too quick to leave us and for his own good could have stayed for another season. I had doubts about whether or not he was ready for the step-up to the SPL. I also agree that with Adeloye, Diack and Graham we have enough goal threat povided we continue to play with our current formation. If we change to playing with 2 strikers then we need to sign another striker but I would be looking for someone who is more mobile and who has more football in him than Rudden.
  15. I am sure Graham will be able to lead the team out at the final........... he just won't be playing against Arbroath. I don't know who the decision makers are but if McLennan and Doncaster have anything to do with it the final will not be moved and neither will the Arbroath game. The authorities will turn the situation back to the club and tell them they have the option to play Grahan v Arbroath or not play him so that he can lead the team out at the final. Their choice! To the game itself. A great result and convincing performance. Both goals were very good but I thought Slater's goal was a fantastic effort. We handled the conditions better than Hibs and when the situation allowed tried to pass the ball. No accident Skzter's goal came from a passing movement. Congratulations to the coaching staff, the players and the fans who braved the conditions. Best of luck for the Final.
  16. Have we ever had a striker who has scored as many goals as Graham in the 6 yard ox? I don't have figures but my impression is that the majority of his goals are scored from within the 6 yard box. I can't recall anyone !
  17. I didn't see this coming but as said earlier I would be delighted, and zi am! A big well done to all Jags who travelled to Dingwall and a safe journey home. Also best of luck to the Ladies tomorrow - Rangers await!!
  18. Two reasons: 1. We weren't playing our 6th game in 2.5 weeks or perhaps more relevant, our 2nd game in 4 days after having already played 4 games). This play-off system lacks football integrity and it sucks! 2. We didn't have Nick Walsh as the referee. Today's game cannot be compared to the play-off final. If you look at the highlights of the 2-0 game at Firhill with RC you will see that in the second half we were already starting to suffer from fatigue. That's why we didn't winning that game 3/4-0.
  19. Decent enough side but disappointed Doolan didn't go with 2 up front, say Diack and Adeloye! No idea what the score will be but will be surprised (and delighted) if we win this one.
  20. I have just watched the last 10 mins of the game and scrolled back to see Craigen"s goal. From about 18 yds, he took the ball first time at about waist height and side footed it high into the net. Craig Gordon was rooted to the spot in the centre of the goal. It was a spectacular effort by Graigen. However, to describe Callum Booth's strike as a cross is very generous. In my opinion Booth totally misfit the ball and sliced it to Craigen!
  21. You can say that again. Poorest bunch I can remember in nearly 60 yrs of watching the Jags.
  22. Totally agree with this. We should go with 2 up front and force RC to keep 3 defenders back. Do we know who will be refereeing the game? If its Nick Walsh I wouldn't even bother travelling. Here's hoping that on this occasion we have an 'honest' game of football.
  23. Best of luck to the Jags on Sunday v Hibs. As far as I can see we have played Hibs only once so far this season - a 2-0 victory for the Jags at Medowbank. I anticipate a tough game too close to call. If we play well and get a fair deal from the Ref then home advantage could swing the tie our way. All to play for!
  24. Might be better for Lyon as the alternative seems to be warming the bench. I suspect McInroy will return to Kilmarnock at the end of the season and if we can offload Alston that would create space for Lyons. I wouldn't be averse to Bannigan leaving either but isn't he on a two year contract? There is also Robinson whom I would be happy to retain. We might be stuck in terms of what we can do for Lyons so at some point I think Doolan is just going to have to bite the bullet and either release him or play him ahead of Alston etc. I would hope for the latter.
  25. Courier said he was going to sign a permanent contract with Raith. Implied in the brief article was that he has been told he has no future at Dundee. All of this though might just be 'paper talk'.
