  1. Thanks for compiling that all in one place - you've effectively confirmed what I expected to hear. It's almost as if it's been set up that way specifically to make change difficult to effect (surely not !!!).
  2. Assuming the protests about the share transfer, referral to the SFA, etc, come to nothing what options are left ? For example, as far as the PTFC Trust is concerned - - what is required to call an EGM ? - who can call it ? - who is eligible to vote ? - can the existing trustees be removed ? - how long would that process take ? - if new trustees are elected, what powers do they have to change the make-up of the club board ? Apologies if that's been covered elsewhere - I may have missed it amongst the posts ...
  3. If it's the Cloudflare 520 error, I've been getting it on the mobile a lot recently. I cleared the cookies and it's not reappeared. Maybe worth a try ....
  4. Just crashed. They were going into meltdown !!!
  5. Maybe worth waiting to see if they got any concessions in return for their 'yes' vote (I know, I know ....).
  6. Although I was only about 6, I was seriously ill when the League Cup was won (nearly pegged it apparently), and my recovery present was the full kit. Loved it. Also loved, but never ever got, the black scarf though - call me ungrateful !!!
  7. I'm afraid you'll need to remind me of our post-split record for the last w seasons in the top league. Not sure I'd agree that AA had a great record for lifting us in those games .....
  8. Locals where I live think Scougall is going to Ayr ......
  9. We've plummeted like a stone in the last 18 months. Whether Archie would have done better than Caldwell is pure speculation. He could have done worse (hard as it is to imagine). My view is that neither of them should be allowed anywhere near the manager's office again.
  10. I met Chic at a sort of 'meet the players' night at Maryhill Town Hall. He asked me and the guy I was with to stand in front of the table with the tea and coffee, basically to form a defensive wall and hide him while he filled his plate with custard creams and bourbons. He said that Lambie had caught him earlier and warned him about not eating any more biscuits. The dedication of the professional sportsman
  11. Normally that would be a 100% logical and reasonable statement to make. But when viewed in the wider context it's clear that it's just a continuation of all of last seasons failings (and the last six games of the previous season too). It's deja vu - the only difference being the players that are eventually signed are even worse than in previous seasons (O'Ware and Bell, and maybe Slater, excepted) and players we could rely on before are now past it. I can't see where our next goal is coming from, let alone our next win. Any team that finishes below us must be really, really poor.
  12. For the first time in over a season, I went along to a game (breaking a self-imposed boycott due to SFA corruption, etc) simply because I live nearby, my son gets in for nothing at Somerset (we were in the home end !!!), and I wanted to see if we were really as bad as people had been making out. Unfortunately, we are. Actually that's not quite true - we're worse than that. Maybe if I said that we made Michael Moffat and Declan McDaid look good that might give you an idea of how inept we were today. The stories I've heard about sideways passing followed by a big hoof up the park were 100% spot on. That's almost all we did. On the few occasions we went up the flanks, the balls in were feeble and straight to an Ayr player. We have no pace or invention and the quality of passing under pressure is schoolboy stuff. I'm not convinced Ayr are a great team, but they are strong at the back, neat, pass well and are incisive going forward. Everything that we aren't. I was looking forward to seeing many of the players for the first time. I thought Bell and O'Ware were fine, and would be fine as the basis for the spine of the team. Penrice might be a decent player but not at left back. How many times did he try to pass it down the line just as he was closed down and we lost possession ? Loads. McGinty is a carthorse and should never be allowed to wear the jersey again. Melbourne looks way off the pace. I only noticed Gordon when he mad a mess of something. Squiddy is done based on what I saw today. I was pleased when Spittal signed, so hoping he's just suffering from a lack of confidence. Storey worked hard with no prospect of delivering anything. Fitzpatrick did well when he came on, but we shouldn't be relying on youngsters. If the game was still on now we wouldn't have scored. We are awful and, at times, embarrassing. No tactics, game plan or desire. Archie may well be a Jags legend, but his time is up. If he doesn't get binned we are heading for a relegation battle. And everyone knows how well we deal with those - once we finally accept we're in one.
  13. A couple of years back I was talking to a Thistle player (who has since left) and he told me that the famous 'dressing room spirit' that Archie was so fond of mentioning was a thing of the past. Two or three senior players were far from team players according to him. Didn't post it as I don't like these "taxi driver" type stories, but it did make me wonder. As a result, stories like those above don't surprise me too much.
  14. I agree that they have a lot of decisions to make, and need to take the appropriate time to make the correct choices. However, the prospect of relegation hasn't just appeared. If the board were in any way pro-active, they would be well prepared for scenarios like today, and have a contingency plan in place. But then, it's Thistle we're talking about - we don't exactly have a good track record for getting organised promptly ....
  15. If the last nine months are anything to go by - definitely. If they don't care, they know where the door is.
  16. While the link below is obviously written from a certain viewpoint, I've been following this saga for long enough to know that the vast majority of the facts quoted are undisputed. It makes you wonder why Maxi (or indeed, anyone) would want to take on this role ..... https://thecelticblog.com/2018/03/blogs/the-hampden-ibrox-alliance-has-already-endangered-our-game-it-must-not-be-allowed-to-do-so-again/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
  17. If you were the chairman of Spartans or East Kilbride, itching to get into League 2, how would you feel about this proposal ? Rangers and Celtic have huge squads, most of whom will never get near the first team. If they're that concerned about these players getting game time, loan them out to other clubs. Scottish football isn't run just for their benefit ..... oh, hang on a minute, maybe it is.
  18. That's a very good example. Imagine the roles were reversed and, after beating them 3-0, it was discovered that 9 of our team had issues with their contract registrations and were thus ineligible to play. Do you think the SFA would allow that to go unpunished ? That's an oversimplification, but is essentially the crux of the matter. I was hacked off on the way home from Hampden that day, but thats nothing compared to what I feel about it now.
  19. Sinistar, I've long since binned the reply in disappointment (if not disgust). From memory though, the reply was along the lines that the authorities had much more information than Thistle and took expert legal advice both then and more recently which confirmed the actions taken were correct and a review would have no scope to alter any decisions. Then there was some waffle about how Thistle were very keen to ensure that lessons had been learned and rules, procedures and practices are now in place to prevent it happening again. The message I took from it was "yeah, they were at it for years but we don't want to look into too deeply because we're all implicated to a degree, but trust us - it can't happen again". But I don't, and haven't been back to Firhill since (which breaks my heart).
  20. Thistleberight, start with the Scottish Football Monitor web-site and take it from there. Plenty of articles going back a good bit and (usually) well-informed comments from a wide cross-section of fans. You'll also find links to various other sites, some more partisan than others, so you'll need to consider the motivation of the authors from time to time. It won't take long before you realise you're never going to buy a Scottish newspaper ever again .......
  21. The only way to stop this happening is to let the club know what you think about it, and tell them you won't buy a season ticket if they vote in favour of it. That's what happened in 2012 when the SFA / SPL tried to shoehorn the New Rangers into the top league then the Championship - the clubs chickened out when they realised the impact on their revenue. As has been suggested previously, don't think Thistle are whiter than white when these things come up. I, along with 3 or 4 other Thistle fans I know, wrote to the club when Celtic were (rightly in my view) pushing for a review into the circumstances around the Rangers collapse and all that followed it. You won't be surprised to hear we had no appetite for it. While it sticks in the throat to admit it, Celtic knew exactly what corruption that would expose (it's freely available across the web) but Thistle followed the party line about 'not raking over old coals'. I can't for the life of me understand why we're content to be subservient to that lot, and this is the latest example where we'll just roll over and do as we're told. God, I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I'm just sick of the whole corrupt sham.

    Wtf?

Like most folk on this forum, I used to chuckle at the Celtic fans latest paranoid ramblings. Unfortunately the more I read, the more I realise that they were right and the SFA have been bent for ages. They've surpassed themselves over the past 5 years though, and enough is now enough. As Denis has suggested above, unless we let the club know how we feel, this will go on and on and on (and we have no-one to blame but ourselves). Well, us and the cheating scumbags we've ignored. Wtf?

The practicalities of an independent Judicial Review (separate from the review that Peter Lawell is calling for) are currently being explored. I agree that this is the most likely route for any successful outcome, as there are too many conflicted individuals at other clubs, Rod Petrie at Hibs for example, who don't want their dirty laundry scrutinised. The question of why no reporters are following up on this is an interesting one. Is it to protect their already dwindling circulation ? Is it because many of them are Sevco fans and enjoy the access to their heroes ? Or is it because they've been threatened with physical violence if they take it any further ? Given this is the biggest sporting scandal ever in Scottish, if not British, sport, then while I do believe that there's an element of the first two, that should be outweighed by their journalistic curiosity / integrity (stop laughing at the back !!!) which leads me to believe they're 'following instructions'. That elevates the whole thing to a dark and dangerous level, and the strands that go off from there extend way beyond football. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but this is massive and we're all being told to move along. Have a look on the net and you'll find a whole load of stuff that will shock you. And steer clear of 'newspapers' .....

    Wtf?

In addition, the media will not escape this unscathed. If you get your news from the Daily Ranger, the Herald, etc, etc, then you are simply reading PR handouts. These excuses for journalists are trying to dress this up as a 'Rangers v Celtic' issue in the hope that fans of other clubs will lose interest. Luckily, it seems that fans groups from Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs (in particular) are pressing their boards to ensure this doesn't go away. I have moaned about the team lying down when we play them, so it would be hypocritical of me to do likewise when I see the reams of evidence in the public domain. As for DoD's point above, I was living in Leeds when that cup semi was played. I travelled up with 3 mates (Barnsley, Bolton and Huddersfield fans) and saw us lose to a team that, from memory, had only 1 player registered correctly (Tony Vidmar I think). Imagine what would have happened if that was us. Or Spartans. Or Albion Rovers. That's why this review must happen, with whatever consequences that may follow.

    Wtf?

In what way is that a surprise ? Everyone should know by now that the SFA will bend over backwards to help them whenever they can. Until there is a full review of the EBT saga, this sort of thing will continue. The reason the SFA are so keen to avoid it is that they know it will reveal them as hopelessly compromised (diplomatic way of putting it). The fallout would be departures, resignations and potentially criminal charges. Only when that happens and the current incumbents are replaced can we be sure that the game is clean. I feel strongly about this and have written to Maxy to tell him I (and my teenage sons) won't be back until such a review takes place. That's not something I've done lightly and I know that many of you will disagree. The alternative is to sit and watch things like this happen over and over again. Sorry - not prepared to pay money for them to cheat and laugh up their sleeves at me.
