  1. "Under strict liability, there is no requirement to prove fault, negligence or intention." This is an extract taken from 'What is strict liability' at the bottom of page 6 top of page 7. This was an excellent discussion during the Trust Meeting. This is a very interesting topic which ever football fan should be commenting on. http://www.parliament.scot/parliamentarybusiness/Bills/102260.aspx - this is the page with the introduction http://www.parliamen...ocument_pdf.pdf - this is the 28 page draft consultation put forward.
  2. People come to an event, this may have been covered previously but how do people who are not part of the Thistle community know that Thistle are playing? in order to sell a product you need to have people who want to buy it, that being said you need to make sure that people know you have a product to sell... (again Australian football comparison coming) When Melbourne Victory were playing or an upcoming game was against a team that was not going to sell well, Perth, Central Coast, Newcastle and New Zealand - this match was advertised to people who would not necessarily bother looking. Half Page in the Metro in the week before? full page on a midweek game? I have also (following the community trust meeting) asked the club to look at how many season ticket holders live within walking distance (10 minutes) of the stadium and where the other catchment zones are for the club. When you have this information you can move into promoting the club in places where it might not exist. Also I would like to know, if anyone has any experience of the shops around Munns Vaults knowing about the football being on or if PTFC feel like a local business with them? my only experience was arriving very early for a Jags home game, fetching some Pre-match chicken pakora and being asked if there was a game on...
  3. All areas are seated... Supporters have the right to support their club how they like, I do not allow people to disregard the elderly, sick, disabled or young supporters from any club. This being said why is no-one pointing out that the club who is selling the tickets should be responsible for the fans that they sell them to? If you have spectators that want to stand then sell tickets that are at the back of the section, if you want to sit sell tickets from the front. That is common sense.
  4. There was a wider conflict within Australian Football at the time, the Government commissioned an Enquiry the following points were raised a) The failure of the Socceroos to qualify for the FIFA World Cup and FIFA Confederations Cup due to there being inadequate funds to send European based players to friendlies and the OFC Nations Cup, The investigation by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Four Corners programme into conflicts of interest and mismanagement at the Board level at Soccer Australia. c) The constant in-fighting between political factions and concentration of voting and legislative powers in a relative minority of people perpetuating bad governance. d) The overt resistance to accept the government enquiry, and even an initial refusal to accept its recommendations despite the balance of government and public opinion seeking rapid implementation. (Information taken from Wiki). Upon the findings the previous board resigned in its entirety - former PM John Howard now involved with the Australian Sports Commissioned (ASC) is rumoured to have gone to see Mr Frank Lowy and asked for him to take the reigns of a new governing body, this was then known as Football Federation Australia. The ASC threatened and said that we are going to pull the pin on your funding if you do not endorse and reform as per the Crawford Report, a year later in 2003 the National Soccer League Task Force issued a new report (Click Here to See Report) The following quote comes from Page 2 of this report: "There can be no question that a new start for the national competition is absolutely essential, requiring a complete change to what currently exists. The current NSL must cease operations, with a new national competition established in its place." With direct reference to your comment Lenziejag at no point where any team going to place in a new national competition - the report recommended the following should happen: That: 36. The League commence in the 2004/2005 season as a new competition, with the current NSL terminating at the end of the current season. 37. ASA seek assurances from State Federations that excluded NSL clubs will be accepted to play in the top division of their respective State competitions. 38. ASA immediately put in place procedures to protect both clubs and players where a current NSL club is unsuccessful in becoming a member of the League. Effectively the teams in order to maintain playing were dropped out of a national league sent back to their top tier within the state league competition. They had to meet a criteria and most could never meet the standard set. there was 20 initial Bidders, with only 12 Consortium's placing a final bid for 8 places in the new national competition.Football Federation Australia had secured a national TV deal which the NSL had never managed to do and a major league sponsor in Hyundai Motors. Once the 8 Licenses has been issued the Hyundai A-League opened its Inaugural season in 2005/2006.
  5. The club is developing that end of the ground and increasing the capacity of the ground (if planning permission application is to be believed) whilst it is by only 500 spectators. I am saying that in the same space they turn this into safe standing rather than putting in seats. the maintenance cost to maintain them is cheaper and the option for a cheaper ticket is there to attract the lower income earner to a live football match.
  6. I confess, I rarely can afford to make it to a Thistle home game, I cannot spend 22 quid every week to watch them play. I also do not have the income to buy a season ticket even though in the long run I know it is cheaper - my first game back was against St Johnstone - it was different to my previous home game experiences (not because we lost). There is conversation on here and other threads about us losing ground with other sports and our attendance not being up the scratch. Well a cheaper ticket of 12 pounds gives people who might not be able to come every week that option to now get out and go to a live football match. If thistle could offer the chance to watch a live sporting occasion cheaper than rival codes then more fans would come.
  7. Thank you Lady-Isobel-Barnett, I am unsure if the cost implications do not afford for a more 'substantial solution. The capacity for the all seater in the application (which appears to exist and appears to have been submitted) would mean you can have almost 810 standing fans. Using the green guide, it specifies a ratio of 18 standing fans for every 10 spectators in seats. if this stand was increased to say a 560 seated capacity this is now 1008 home fans in this section. A discounted ticket should be offered for both North and South ends of the ground and this could simply be a decrease of the Adult admission price down to 12 - that is an extra 12,000 which is not currently available.
  8. Big Dan I had this conversation just yesterday as a number of the guys I work with found their team on the receiving end of 7 goals at the hands of Barcelona on Tuesday night, the SFA should now realise that Scottish Football needs a swift course correction. To say that they would diminish their chances in Europe by including younger Scottish Players is just a ridiculous argument! Irony for the OF should be that they were greedy and it is finally time for them to realise that Scottish football will only compete in Europe if the week in week out their metal is being tested in competitive football against quality opposition.
  9. I was having a quick read of the (www.footballgroundguide.com/scotland/partick_thistle.html) for Thistle today, the following section was included under future developments - "Barry Buttigieg informs me; 'The Club have resurfaced plans to re-develop the South End of the stadium. This would include a 450 all seater stand, plus residential and office accommodation. Planning permission for the scheme was applied for by the Club in late 2014." With the opening of the Safe Standing area at Parkhead - could the club not look at changing this 450 seater stand into something like a substantial terrace arrangement. Anyone know of any of development plans for the ground?
  10. There would need to be a total restructure of the way the Football is governed within Scotland. I can only speak from seeing the Football Federation of Australia making its changes - this included abolishing the top flight competition, the 'old NSL (National Soccer League) in favour of brand new teams to be placed in a new national competition (A-League) that broke the previous ethnic/racial divides, I am not suggesting teams are changed or abolished here but that was the extent they were willing to go to save football in Australia. The new competition came into effect 2005, Australia has since qualified for each world cup since 2006 (previously having done so only once in 1974) they have won the 2015 Asian Cup (European Championships Equivalent) and for the first time in the AFC a single nation has held both the Asian Cup at a national level and the Asian Champions League title at a club level with Western Sydney Wanderers. In the same way that we develop children's learning, football should be handled in the same way. Players need a clear pathway from grassroots to national team - this would mean the amalgamation of all current affiliates (Amateurs, colts, ladies, etc etc) under one SFA banner, each zone/region could have one member of the SFA that is responsible for promoting the game and administering the competition. This would not immediately transform Scottish football but within 15-20 years the players who started with the system would begin representing the national side and begin to be competing in a growing spotlight.
