  1. And Jim Craig at Celtic was in the Lisbon Lions when he was a Dental Student
  2. Most Sportspeople are not full time - simply because there Sports don't attract cash - however it doesn't stop those in it from competing at an International level and achieving success. Its about attitude and discipline - whilst Stenny Players train with the Club twice a week - there players will be training on there own the other days. there fitness levels match ours there is nothing to suggest that they cannot maintain there form throughout the Season due to being part time Apart from a couple of Players our 71 Squad was Part Time A lot of Clubs struggling to break even in the Championship will be asking fundamental questions if Stenny Win the league
  3. Where have i "dissed " anyone ~ I've stated that as the Planning for the Squad starts Months before the Window Opens- then if we were going to sign a Striker then it would be planned with multiple options - the conclusion ( as I've stated ) is that we decided not to sign a Striker ~ if we were going to~ the Stanway position didn't impact as it was already factored into the overall budget - I have not blamed "specific people" you are making stuff up
  4. He stated publicly that the Plans for Recruitment were in place before the Play Offs that means the discussions on what was needed took place before that - and a list is drawn up of potential signing targets - there would be 3/4 options for the agreed positions Sp from around Easter the plans were being worked on - that's by the Sporting Directors own statements - No Club goes with one target for a position - for precisely the reason you stated - it can fall through - so you have a Plan B & Plan C on signing targets If we had stated circa Easter we needed a Striker - we would have signed one - no one waits till near the Close of the Window to Sign a Striker - that's just not a realistic scenario So the Coaches + Sporting Director decided we didn't need one - no other scenario makes sense
  5. Ok - I will qualify it - every club who of our size and larger as for believing - our sporting director stated publicly squad planning took place before the play offs ( actual player targets are identified long before that) so if we had planned to have a new striker then that was done early may ( at least)
  6. There isn't another scenario ~ the process is the same for every Club - I've neither commented positively nor negatively on the situation Regards Diak ~ again I've neither commented positively or negatively ~ nor passed opinion on if he was Good enough - nor the requirement to get a wage off the books. all of these things are the decisions of the Sporting Director who balances the Football Budget & is responsible for Recruitment - that's why he is there
  7. Because every Club starts the process of recruiting for the following Season as soon as the January Window Shuts ~ its standard practice There is a list of key areas that we need to strengthen drawn up & an approx budget given to the Board Key Roles are agreed ~ and a list of potential signing targets identified for each area we want to strengthen - initial discussions are then held with there agent to see if the Player(s) are interested & what sort of Money they want - you will have at least four options as signing targets The Sporting Director has his list - gives it to the Recruitment Director - they put names to the Coach for final approval Its a process - you don't roll up and hope couple of Strikers will sign in July ? So extending Salmonds Contract was seen as the priority & putting Diack out on loan both point to the fact we didn't see signing a Striker as something we needed - obviously resigning Fitzpatrick & Stanway were seen as key signings and we have a Budget so they were part of the allocated Budget There is no pontification - our Sporting Director - Recruitment Director - Coach & Board use the same process as every other Club And as we have a Sporting Director & a Recruitment Director - unlike other Championship Clubs ( who rely on there Manager ) we have the resource to be working on this process Full Time throughout the Season ~ and the Coach deals solely with the Squad Performance
  8. There is zero chance he is leaving to go back into management
  9. The point is ~ we weren't looking - or we would have had one in the Summer - if your looking for a decent Striker that search starts 12 Months in advance - not just before the Window closes So clearly there was a decision made that we didn't need one ~ nor a back up in Diack The decision not to add an additional Striker to the Squad would be done by the Sporting Director & the Coaching Staff ( and advised to the Board ). Its a Big Decision -so there would have been numerous discussions at Multiple Levels & the Recruitment Director would not have one on his target list at the turn of this Year
  10. Maybe a bit less time on Clyde Super Scoreboard ( the day after a defeat) & selling socks & a bit more time on core fitness -and shooting practice might be an idea
  11. Kargbo also gives them the Option of "Route 1" ~ when the pitches are Heavy during the Winter at opposing Grounds
  12. Because everyone is looking for a "decent striker" and its something you identify last Season and be starting the hunt over 12 Months ago At best we are getting third pick from the Loanees of larger Clubs as we don't have a partner arrangement with any Club
  13. During the Miners Strike in the 70s you couldn't play midweek evening Games due to the Power Cuts ~ we got over 12,000 at Firhill for a Scottish Cup Replay on a Tuesday afternoon with a 2 pm Kick Off
  14. We need Floodlighting in the Winter when Sunlight is limited and battery storage has a limited time period
