  1. Taking off arguably our four best players was very strange, assuming McMillan/Fitzpatrick picked up knocks or were knackered? Terrible decision to take Lawless and Graham off. Doesn’t help that their replacements were absolutely dreadful. Our team at the end of that game was really poor - hanging on for the possibility of penalties. I’m gutted.
  2. Ross Stormonth: https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/ross-stormonth-becomes-new-ptw-assistant-manager/
  3. Diack suspended, Turay injured. They are just modern apprentices though, do need plenty more signings.
  4. What are the preferred positions of Mackenzie and Stevenson? Left wing for the former? I’ve seen Stevenson listed as a forward but I think Doolan’s been giving him minutes at full-back this pre-season?
  5. 7 total, 2 starting (defenders) and 5 on the bench.
  6. I’m pretty sure it only applies to anyone under 23. If a 20 year old is coming to the end of his contract, and you offer him a new one (think it needs to be on equal or better terms?) then if he rejects it and signs for someone else, you’re due compensation. Tiffoney’s 24 and Turner’s 25 so doesn’t apply for them.
  7. They’d only be due a payment if they’ve offered him a new deal.
  8. It’s hard to know how we’ll recruit. On one hand, it looks like we’re skint, on the other hand we don’t know what the investment spoken about/hinted at in the club’s statement involves. We’re surely running a smaller budget than last season but will it be as small as people assume? Is it still going to be a top 4 budget for this league? I’d imagine Turner and Docherty will be leaving - I’d look at Kerr McInroy from Kilmarnock, who McInnes doesn’t seem to rate. I see Archie is a coach at Killie now so if we were one of a number of clubs in for a loan of someone like McInroy, hopefully that swings it a little in our favour.
  9. I know, I’m saying he (and Muirhead, also out of contract) might take a drop in wages to sign on for another season. What does this say about Gerry Britton by the way? Position untenable, for this to happen under his watch?
  10. Certainly think we have to be looking at MacKenzie being Tiffoney’s replacement. Not sure what type of midfielder Stanway is to say whether he’d be a Docherty or Turner replacement, but again he’ll probably have a more prominent role next year. Go younger on average next season with a good core of experience. Muirhead and Bannigan might be willing to take a drop in wages?
  11. Hopefully Bannigan is fit for Friday. I’d potentially start Fitzpatrick either way though, maybe in place of Lawless, and try hit them on the counter with his pace.
  12. I see Kenny Arthur was coaching yesterday - seems like he’s not been relieved of his duties JJ?
  13. We wouldn’t finish 2nd under McCall now so what are we even arguing about at this point? Whether you’re judging it on “promotion” or “2nd” - it looked like he was going to fail to reach his target.
  14. Nonsense. The board make decisions - not all of them will be the correct ones but they’ll be made with the best intentions. You keep saying “one point off the playoffs with a third of the season to go is a sackable offence” as if it shouldn’t be. With this budget and squad, 5th place after two thirds of the season with rank home defeats to Hamilton and Cove Rangers (who we’ve still never beaten ffs) unfortunately probably is a sackable offence. I have strong doubts on whether Doolan is the right man, but they clearly believe at this stage McCall isn’t. He’s a capable Championship manager, has steadied the ship in both spells as manager and I thank him for that, but I agree he wouldn’t get us promoted. We’re gambling that Doolan has at least a chance of that, on the assumption that it’s low risk as we’re unlikely to get relegated. Good luck to him.
  15. There’s plenty of out of work managers with experience of Scottish football. Whether we can afford them and a pay off for McCall and assistants is another question, I don’t know the finances involved. You’ve got Jim Goodwin, Jack Ross, Tam Courts and Graham Alexander who will presumably need to rebuild their reputations at smaller clubs than their previous ones. Although they’re probably holding out for a Premiership job or one down south. Tommy Wright is available, might not be everyone’s cup of tea but good win percentages and has won this league. John Kennedy, Barry Robson (assuming he doesn’t get the Aberdeen job) and Stephen Craigan are well thought of coaches. Do you take the risk? Would John Robertson be tempted into a management return? Would Stewart Petrie give up his great job outside of football for a crack at full-time? Kevin Thomson another one available, I have my doubts about how good he really is though. There’s 11 unlikely to fairly likely names off the top of my head before you consider anyone without experience of Scotland who would likely apply. We could replace McCall with someone better.
  16. 3 Black Cats need to just be open and honest and say - we want to continue running this club, we think Colin Weir was wrong to suggest a Motherwell-style fan owned model.
  17. Has anyone at the Jags Foundation reached out to the likes of BBC Scotland, thinking specifically Sportsound and/or Off the Ball, to get some airtime to address these issues? It beggars belief that this has been allowed to happen. 750+ fans in a well-run, transparent membership organisation that communicates with all fans vs. a membership organisation that claims to automatically represent all season ticket holders (despite these season ticket holders having had zero communication, zero ability to affect anything, zero votes on Trust leadership) who have not uttered a meaningful word to any Thistle fan in close to three years.
  18. Protests are definitely a viable option in terms of getting the mainstream media's attention on what's going on. Ps. What's Gaelic for '**** off Jacqui Low'?
  19. Did feel weird, with the defender on the post, the speed of the header and everyone’s reactions as it was in the air, it had an inevitable feeling that it was going wide/going to be easily cleared. Was surprised to see it hit the net.
  20. Gospel Ocholi has went out on loan to Benburb for the season, which would suggest we’ve reached an agreement to bring in the winger McCall mentioned. McDaid?
  21. Very highly rated at Hearts. I’m happy with the signing.
