  1. Definitely more effective tonight when he came on. Played a big part in turning the game in our favour. Looks better when played in a central role.
  2. I thought George was decent, brilliant is a bit of a stretch though.
  3. Looking at that line up, I'll be happy to hold out for a 0-0. Very strange team selection.
  4. Very strange, particularly in reference to game at Firhill. I remember with about 15 seconds to go being sick to my stomach that we hadn't beaten them and Turner's last gasp winner was both a brilliant and deserved moment. My pre-match memory was that Raith were flying high. In a similar fashion to Arbroath who had spanked us in the previous game at Firhill. What I really didn't expect was to see the worst opposition we'd encountered all season. Then he signs Goodwille. You make your bed.
  5. Surely it would only be retaken if a Morton player had encroached and cleared the ball? There is literally no question of handball. His hands are nowhere near the ball at any point. He puts it in with his foot.
  6. The only thing I can think might have happened is Holt encroaching into the box. If he has then the ref is correct. If he hasn't then it's totally inexplicable as to what offence has been committed. There's just nothing there.
  7. The penalty summed up a horrible night. Firstly please never let Graham take a penalty again. He just runs up smashes it generally towards the goal at about the perfect height to save. If the goalie goes the right way it's a save. We got a break and it came straight back to knock into an empty net but somehow he manages to head it onto the post. Then Holt manages to save the day and bundle it over the line, at which point the ref gives a foul against him for no ****** reason whatsoever. From that point on we all knew the script. Utterly depressed. Please God let me not see Smith in a Thistle jersey ever again.
  8. Some brutal tackles being put in by Thistle.
  9. Would imagine the mobilisation of police, stewards, match officials etc at such short notice would be an issue.
  10. Both Smith and Turner have been largely ineffective all season. Apart from a decent cameo against Raith Rovers struggling to think of a game in which Turner has had much effect. What I very clearly remember was watching our last defeat against Arbroath and thinking he was head and shoulders the worst player on the park. It doesn't particularly surprise me he hasn't featured much since. It's frustrating because he clearly has ability and his set pieces are an asset.
  11. Aaaaggghh seconds from a brilliant night
  12. Yeah that's how I remember it. Pretty sure Blackburn's title was more than 25 years ago.
  13. To some extent this cuts to the chase. The increasing uncompetitiveness (if that's an actual word) in football is a global phenomenon. In particular since the rise in televised live games in the late 80s, the rich have become richer and richer. It's a mix that leaves the Old Firm completely dominant domestically but with zero chance of being competitive against the Champions League elite. Certainly the days of Aberdeen beating Real Madrid in a European final are consigned to history. Leicester City are only real curveball I can think of in recent times. Paradoxically that's how much of the world likes it. And it's those people that are largely responsible for the huge amount of wealth in today's game. As an aside, I've racked my brain but can only come up with 6 teams that have been champions of England in the last last 25 years. Haven't looked it up so must be missing a few.
  14. Shite!!! Drinking session instead. Oh well, every cloud...
  15. After the Kilmarnock game I thought at the standard of refereeing couldn't get any worse. Then along came the clown that refereed the Airdrie match with the worst performance I'd ever seen. At least I thought that has to be the absolute zenith of shite refereeing. And then came along the joker from last night. I honestly in a state of shock at how bad he was. He was giving terrible decisions for Ayr as well. The penalty decision just beggered belief but Graham being dragged to the ground and getting a foul and a yellow against him actually managed to top it.
  16. The choice of televised games has for many moons highlighted what a backward, insular little country we are. If I hadn't got into following Thistle from a young age I wouldn't give Scottish Football a second thought.
  17. I actually thought the main difference between the sides was our defence was non-existent. Reminded me of the defensive performance against Dunfermline at the start of the season.
  18. Yeah, I know. You spend years trying to forget someone but there's always somebody to bring the nightmare back.
  19. Think it was only the winner in injury time. St Johnstone did it to us, think around 2008, to draw 2-2.
  20. Think you mean John Greig. Both of his goals were in injury time. I actually managed to get home thinking we'd won. Horrible experience.
  21. Not sure what to make of that. Bannigan and Docherty excellent. Great goal. Dreadful referee. Where do they dig them up?
  22. You're right, in general Mayo has been very good. But yesterday's tackle was suicidal. The moment he made it there was only one possible outcome. He needs that recklessness coached out of him.
  23. Think I must be getting grumpy in my old age but very disappointed at that performance. Scored two decent goals but that apart we were awful. It's been a long time since I've seen us fail to make so many basic passes and look so disjointed. I know Graham and Rudden combined well for the 2nd goal but the rest of the game it looked like neither of them could trap a medicine ball. Still a bit confused about their 2nd equaliser. Looked like Sneddon was in the process of a routine save when one of our players (Graham I think) booted it into the top of the net. The worst aspect was the complete lack of urgency in getting out to close them down. As for their 1st, absolutely shocking from Mayo. What in the name of Christ was he thinking. As you can probably work out, I'm most definitely not in the happy with a point camp. Thought Docherty had an excellent game. About the only positive for me.
  24. If McGlynn doesn't think that tackle was a red he's delusional. If he doesn't think it was even a yellow he seriously needs to seek help. Bannigan was (correctly) given a red for a very similar challenge a couple of seasons ago. Think it might have been Zannata's debut against Ayr.
  25. Holt had a cross first half that evaded everyone and came back off the post. It was seconds before Smith had a great chance that he put just past the other post.
