Jaggernaut
does anyone else go right back to the start of this thread and luxuriate in this wondrous gallery time and again? It's great fun, sorting out identities, pinpointing the precise match and re-living what happened, and hearing people's stories. Here's one for today. JeanieD
Jackie Cambell, Dave McKinnon and Ian Gibson (not sure about the Thistle player furthest away - Alex O'Hara?) against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park - perhaps the 0-0 or 1-0 cup game in the ludicrous marathon of 4 games in the early 80s? thisal
Duffy, Hainey. Love that picture as we used to sand in the shed, half way back above the Gas sign. Maybe Bent Martin in goals for The Pars Jeez they weren't very pc in those days were they?

I was thinking Melrose in the distance? Both he and O'Hara, as well as the other three played in the matches Nov 17 (1-0, Donald Park) and March 29 (1-0, Colin McAdam) in 1979-80. Gibson didn't play in the Scottish Cup game against them, which we also won (1-0, McAdam)!

a f kincaid
Davie MacKinnon only played 3 times at Rugby Park but Gibson only played in one of them so it must be:- 17 Nov 1979. 1-0 (Park). Rough, MacKinnon, Whittaker, Campbell, Anderson, Gibson, O'Hara, Doyle (J), McAdam, Melrose, Park (McDonald). McCulloch, McLean, Robertson, Clark, Clarke, McDicken, Gibson, Maxwell, Bourke, Mauchlen, Street. Don't recognise the horizontal Killie player. The other one could, indeed, be John Bourke. This is the game that ex-JAG Bobby Houston came on as a sub in 58 mins and was sent off on 59 minutes. He was reported to the ref by a linesman for an off the ball incident. The Evening Time also suggested he made a gesture to the Thistle dugout as he came on.

Think Bertie was still the manager

The truth according to Kilmarnock, a bit of badger baiting ? http://www.killiefc.com/DoYouRemember/BobbyHouston.htm Edited February 4, 2015 by Blues Brother
The Sunnylaw Jag
Badger an average player? Not according to this guy and he should know. From Shoot magazine August 4th,1979 issue. http://
Jag
The truth according to Kilmarnock, a bit of badger baiting ? http://www.killiefc....obbyHouston.htm I actually remember that happening at the time but never knew the full story. That's brilliant! Jim Melrose the far away player I think.

Jaggernaut
The truth according to Kilmarnock, a bit of badger baiting ? http://www.killiefc....obbyHouston.htm Haha. Nice story of a bad day for Badger. Certainly more than an "average player" in his time with us, though.

jaggy
Surely naebody will get this one! Clues will drip-fed as necessary. I won't ruin it, but when I saved the image to enlarge it, there was a player's name appeared, so I assume that's part of the answer and I'll say no more on that My initial thought is Kilbowie
ChewinGumMacaroonBaaaz
Reckon it's Meadowbank .... and maybe the current(?) Clydebank gaffer "Budgie" McGhie doing the can-can furra real jags?
Jaggernaut
Interesting suggestions so far....... Looks a bit like John Cleese doing a silly walk. Edited February 5, 2015 by Jaggernaut
ChewinGumMacaroonBaaaz
I'm guessing late 80's too... going by the goalie's hub-cap dealer 'tache' 'n' 'do. Edited February 5, 2015 by ChewinGumMacaroonBaaaz
jaggy
Reckon it's Meadowbank .... and maybe the current(?) Clydebank gaffer "Budgie" McGhie doing the can-can furra real jags? Meadowbank might be a better shout than Kilbowie, which explains something to me
Members Willjag
The goalkeeper looks like Hamish McAlpine and the ground looks like Kilbowie. I remember playing Dundee United at Kilbowie one year in a cup game at the time Christian Dailey was just starting to break through as a Centre Forward for United. No idea who the number 5 for us is though, could be Grant Tierney?
Lindau
I actually remember that happening at the time but never knew the full story. That's brilliant! Jim Melrose the far away player I think. I remember him coming on and then immediately going to the jags dug out and having a shouting match with Bertie which resulted in the Vicky being aimed at Bertie. Don't remember the Gibby bit. He must have been fecking raging when all the players ignored him...lol
ChewinGumMacaroonBaaaz
He's fat... he's round... he bouncies off the ground.... Gordon Rae? .... There was another centre half at the time i'm thinking, who I can picture, but just cannae pluck the name out the ol' jaggy-bellum...
