Do you have a crystal ball? I'm not sure what your point is quoting my team. Nobody knew what was going to happen tonight. Doolan hasn't played that well all season (don't think many will deny that) so I think it was legitimate to say Eccleston deserves a chance, but obviously Archie still wanted him to play and I'm glad - great performance to score four goals. Dools tends to go on scoring sprees so this will hopefully kick start his season again.

Your team was shit!! End of! And you printed it twice and a third time after the teams were announced you had a go at dools. You wanted 3 boys in the team, dools dropped and lawless dropped. Eccleston hasn't kicked a ball since arriving and certainly doesn't deserve a start. Lawless is one of our best players this yr and didn't have his best game against Saints but neither did 90% of our team, but you stated that Higgy should start, but Higgy was pish as well on Saturday.

Fantastic performance. We were superb in every department. Doolan was sensational and really benefitted from having Stevo and Lawless close to him. Dan and Frans were in complete control at the back. I swear big Frans would tackle the Main Stand if it got in his way. Craigen had his best game in quite some time - plenty of interceptions and much better use of the ball. Elliot again proved himself to be an able deputy at left-back. He never looked stretched. Honestly, not a below par performance from anyone.

I guess that is what following Thistle is all about...hot and cold! A cold Winter night and I almost didn't go...but we were smokin' hot. Once we scored, we gained in confidence and Hamilton crumbled. We played some really good stuff with great movement, invention and pace and the 5 goal margin didn't flatter us. It confirmed what I have thought this season - at our best, we are certainly good enough to be towards the top of the League.

Fine performances all round and delighted for Dools - the Shout Out for the first was for Ryan Stevenson and I didn't realise he had scored 4 until I got back to the car. They mentioned it was the classic hat trick + 1...right foot, left foot, back heel and header. The third & fourth were collectors' items.

I have always been a big fan of Stephen O'Donnell. He had his usual daft moments early on but he caused them all sorts of problems - good to see our £30,000 rated full back running their £2.3m full back ragged.

Only downside was seeing Sean Welsh hobbling after what looked like a raking challenge on the back of his leg. Really felt for the lad.

Not everybody would agree with you, Lindau.

Agreed BB. He has become a bit if a whipping boy on here this season, but for me he never hides and always tries his best. That is all I ask from anyone pulling on the red n yella........well if he could score 4 goals in every game that would be acceptable as well....lol

Only down side was Welsh. Heartbreaking for the guy as once again he was the victim of a bad tackle. Tried to play on but hobbling badly at the end. Hope it's just an ankle knock and nothing else. Poor guy must be feeling sick.

Yup, I was gutted for him. You could tell straight away that he thought it was a bad one. He recovered slightly but was limping quite badly by the end of the game. I may be wrong, but from where I was sitting it looked like he kicked the leg of an Accies player while attempting to play a cross-field pass. The Accies player came in from behind, was late and didn't get the ball, at least as far as I could tell. Again, it was an impact injury that could have happened to anyone. Really, really hope he's okay. I was watching the subs warm up prior to the match and Welsh was pinging 40 yard passes, each of which landed on the recipient's toe. The guy is class.

Some unreal posts tonight after a great game, top fans.

Don't worry too much , most of it is just banter , I'll give you your quote after the St Johnstone game " Doolan has been a great servant and I think lower premiership is his standard as a second / third choice ". Would you like to reappraise?

I guess a striker scoring only one goal in his last fourteen games is going to get some comments like that. I hope Doolan plays and scores as much as the next person.

So what can we expect on Wednesday night...my heart tells me that Thistle fans will make every effort to get to the game, realising that the players need support now more than when things are all going right; the North Stand will be loud, the atmosphere helped by the floodlights through light mist on a cold January evening. Thistle will come out fired up after Saturday, pushed on by the noise of the crowd, playing good football and creating chances. We'll score. We'll win. We'll celebrate. We'll do it as a team - players and fans all pulling in the same direction, all striving for the same result.

We got this?

We ******* got this!

That was excellent - not a failure in the team. Apart from the obvious (Doolan and Stevo) I'd call special attention to Seaborne, who was constantly talking Elliot through the game and giving him pointers; Elliot, who played excellently at left back (and who must be a dream to work with - he just does what he's told and works his socks off); and Lawless, who despite getting minimal protection from the referee stuck at it all game and turned on the style throughout.

Only negative was going from the high of seeing Welsh returning to the low of seeing him hit with a crunching tackle. Someone posted on P&B that he left on crutches. Really hope its not serious - absolutely gutted for him if it is.

Good team performance tonight. Lots of it from our First Division Champions, ably assisted by this season's signings. Fred looked ropey early on but settled. Don't think Gal made a save worth the description. Seabo won just about everything and stood up well to their forwards. Christie excellent at left back, though Accies were much poorer than expected all over. When teams play open, we can kill them. We have still to work out how to unlock the ones that sit in. When we do, top six is guaranteed. Over to Archie for that one.....

P.S. Meant to say GREAT performance....

When we are good we are something else. First twenty minutes weren't great but after that we were immense.

Only average performance was Gallagher. He did nothing wrong but I could have played in goals and we'd have been absolutely fine.

Anyone else think that Eccleston's is a pretty decent striker? To be honest I've been pretty impressed every time I've seen him. Wouldn't be too distressed if we signed a full back and nothing else this window, and maybe two if McMillan's not available.

Gutted for Sean Welsh. Really hope he can come back quickly.

Doolan has done nothing all season.

couldn't even score 50% of the chances he got tonight. not good enough

I'm really not a fan of Craigen playing that deep - he needs to be further forward.

the boy done damn good tonight.

Love this Line-Up. The front 4 we have been waiting on all season. after the 60 mins he had at Left back I'm excited to see Elliot there - we must have the fastest Full-Backs in the Country if he continues there, and the Big No-Nonsense Boys at the back!! Fancy us to give Hamilton a right good doing!!

well called. thanks archie, nice of you to contribute during the game.

I so wish you hadn't put that kiss of death on our chances tonight

oh ye of little faith :shakeshout::fan:

One goal, two goalscorers.

that was comical. fans chant doolan doolan dooan. silly announcer shouts ryan, northy shouts back doolan. ryan .... doolan. ryan ..... doolan.

One man, four goals.

Never criticise the legend that is Kris Doooooolan.

amen.

First player to score a hat-trick in the Premiership this season.

First player to score four in the Premiership this season.

Legend.

and he's our thistle legend.

Well lads, that was a highly enjoyable hour and a half. We must do it again sometime

saturday. erase the horror of the last game there. make it so donners.

Do we have a new left wing back in Elliot??

yes. immense. not a foot wrong.

Great result what a difference big frans makes aswell seems to bring a bit of arrogance and confidence to others ! Higgy stevo lawless together with Doolan up top to finish there work off ! Would love to see that same team again with Fraser in it think we miss him

that team doesn't need changing. lets let fraser get back to full fitness first and then earn his place back.

It Fraser and Bannigan were available on Saturday I honestly don't know what I'd do. I don't think you could touch the front four that played tonight, and Osman's an automatic choice. Craigen's also made a case. And I wouldn't drop Christie from left-back. Nice problem.

We need consistency, but on form this is the best Thistle team I've ever seen (from early eighties)

It would truly be insane to change this team for our next game.

looked like a couple of players were playing for contracts, but without doubt the best performance from the Jags in donkeys. Taking Dools as read, my man of the match was Elliot, fought hard and won all his 50 / 50 tackles and had Imrie in his pocket. The wee Law man tore them to shreds but there were no failures with all playing their part. If only Jamesie boy Craigan could tackle he could make it, on this performance far better than Bannigan.

thought Gall had his eye on the lines person, if he had only known there would be nothing to do in the second half, he could have spent more time trying to chat her up

Not even the hamilton neds at the end of the game could ruin the night although it is a shame that a family club is being ruined by a group of twenty or so bams dressed in stone island gear shouting abuse at random strangers and kicking police cones. How sad.

dougie imrie wannabees, escorted by polis down road after game. what an embarrassment.

I'd also point out that this was all acheived with Elliot and Craigen playing the full 90!

that's where we went wrong on saturday ..... neither played. we'd have mullered them otherwise.

Just a mention for James Craigen tonight. The wee fella isn't everybody's cup of tea, but he doesn't hide and he put some shift in tonight. One of our best performances over the last 3 years. Just a pity the attendance was very poor!

jimmy c is my cup of tea, but each to their own. agree on the performance timeline. tough luck on those who missed it, but its just us living up to our great unpredictable tag ..... if folk pick and choose their games, thats the risk they take missing magnificence like tonight.

I thought that was James Craigens best performance in a Jags shirt!

agreed. can't see any reason to drop him for banzo or fraser after tonight, it's his to lose now as far as i'm concerned. but i'm not archie, and he gets paid to make the decisions. in archie i trust.

I swear big Frans would tackle the Main Stand if it got in his way.

post of the thread.

thats all any sane jags supporter can ask.

if true, hopefully only precautionary and proves to be nothing more than bruising. must be unluckiest player in our history? jukebox?
