I don't know how much it would take to keep the club ticking over for a year without football, but 14 players' wages alone would be at least 500k, plus ground staff, plus Chief Exec, Manager etc and we wouldn't see much change out of £1 million.   Add in business rates, staff on costs, stadium maintenance etc. etc and I'm guessing you have to be looking in the region of £2million.

Our expenses (On last accounts) was £2,993,830 (Turnover less Profit) with wages (Inc pensions & social security) being £1,954,075 effectively 65%  of our expense (or 64% of turnover), this was for 24 players and development squad and 59 others (A lot of these others will not be a full time wage but 4 or 5 hours every 2 weeks). So 70% of the 59 (41 approx) will be "Match staff" if at 5 hours a matchday = 6 full time wages. Effectively having  24 playing  and 24 staff ).   Those 48 full time wages equate to an average of  £40K a year each

Even only paying the 20% Furlough wage at the moment equates to £33K a month going out the club, with zero income.

If we have to pay 14 players wages, manager, assistant, some staff and CE, Manager etc on a full wage (18 at same average) its £750K. but you cant put on games even behind closed doors with a squad of 14 and only 4 staff, so that figure would easily double, and as AirdrieJag has stated add the rest in and its around £2million a season just for closed doors football, unless wages are dramatically cut

Absolutely , this reform from within nonsense just does not work when there are dishonest people involved with self interest and cronyism rife.

Would  be delighted if we were at the forefront of something new and innovative , ideally that does not include the Ugly sisters.

Agree with this simply because, if you are going to have a big change, then best to do it while there is no chance of football being played [I could be wrong, but IMO you wont see football in Scotland this year] and the clubs can spend their energies on establishing something fairer and something that works better for all teams.

The ideal would see RFC and CFC joining an English league organisation, but unfortunately those two teams are so toxic to the perception of the majority of English football supporters, I fear we are stuck with them.

If this movement to a new league management gathers pace, they will have to be careful they do not simply create a renamed carbon copy of what they have now.

The premiership in England have their own issues .....it’s being floated that two clubs from the championship will join an extended league for next season ....the ugly sisters will be staying here

The chances of RFC and CFC going to England is a non starter for many, many reasons.  We could in fact fill multiple pages of the forum listing them. It's a dream that simply will never happen ….. but it is a nice dream, I think that is why it is so often mentioned on these pages.

Update on germany

German clubs have gone into hotels. Waiting for match action. Some have already played closed door games.

Dynamo Dresden are isolating after some players tested positive. So that's a massive spanner in the works for Bundesliga 2

I suspect that this scenario will be repeated often.

Bundesliga: We have to get on with this.

Dresden: We can't.

Bundesliga: We have to get on with this.

Dresden: We can't.

Rinse and repeat. The virus is calling the shots.

So not relegating clubs, due to the season not being able to finish because of a global pandemic. What a novel idea. Other football associations take note.

So we have 6, possibly 7 votes in favour of an Independent Enquiry:

Rangers/Hearts/Stranraer/Thistle/ICT/ Falkirk.

I think East Fife also said they would vote in favour. Still need 25-26 votes!

Aberdeen have said they will vote in favour of an enquiry.

No matter what team you support, how can you have any faith in the people running our league. They had a vote and it has blown up in their face. The vote was a complete shambles and ever since it happened there has been claim and counter claim. In what is a very uncertain time for the whole world due to  a global pandemic, the SPFL have taken what should have been an easy exercise to help EVERY team in Scotland and turned it into a complete shambles that has caused something akin to civil war in Scottish football. With the 3 teams being expelled from their leagues taking the biggest hit in finances because of the cost playing in lower leagues.

Agree with all you say, AJ. Scottish Football has become a farce.

Am I right in thinking that no other league in Europe has gone down the route of relegating teams even though their league schedules were not completed? And of course every other league has to deal with all the financial implications of their remaining matches being halted (involving sponsors, television coverage etc). If so, then what is it about the SPFL that makes them think that they, and only they, are right to do that?

Amiens and Toulouse have been relegated from France Ligue 1, although that is going through the courts

Without disagreeing about what you say, it isn’t the supporters who will be voting, but the club chairmen. Looking at it from the perspective of a league 2 or mid table league 1 side then he has delivered the much needed cash that he promised. You can add that those clubs with reps on the board will not want an enquiry (+ Celtic) and the numbers don’t add up. Ofer that the best we can hope for is that a significant number (with luck over 50%) vote in favour,

In basic t erms, because the SPFL is a self righteous corrupt organisation  which makes up their own rules on the hoof to serve their own self serving agenda.

How Scottish Football has allowed these people to get into and stay in positions of power and influence for so long is astonishing and sickening.

Yes saw that this morning. Encouraging but still a long way to go before the enquiry is approved. Does anyone know if the vote will be run on a secret ballot basis or on similar lines to the now infamous "call the lower leagues" vote - a voting slip, signed and dated by each club and handed/sent in!

What happens if over 50% but less than 75% vote for the independent enquiry ? I can’t see everyone saying well done Neil you win

Very good point! The result that you example will leave Scottish Football in a no win position. The SPFL will claim an 'overwhelming' victory and completely ignore the fact that it has lost the confidence of 50% of its members. The result will be an open and festering  wound that will run for years! Also most likely collective legal action which I see we are again now considering!

What you depict above  is the 2014 independence referendum result 55%-45% which although a defeat for Independence could hardly be described as an endorsement of the Union and as a result hasn't gone and will not go away!
