But it is possible the managers took them aside and told them they had the talent but would need to improve their work rate, fitness and they were probably on their last chance to make it as a full time player. You’re right, Archie definitely did that with Kevin Nisbett , maybe Archie sowed a seed , pity it didn’t work out for PTFC
Auld Jag
Celtic player Boli Bolingoli visited Spain before playing as a sub on Sunday. He has tested negative for covid. Are Scottish premier league players trying to get the season stopped before it has even started for the majority of teams.

No other league seems to have had these problems. No suprise really ... from the way the whole situation has been handled from the top to bottom This now needs some intervention from the SFA and SPFL..fines suspension, docked points etc. for clubs whos players break the rules Edited August 10, 2020 by Jag36

SPFL and SFA are too scared to touch clubs in the Premiership. Aberdeen should be punished over their 8 players incident, but not a whisper from the Halls of Corruption. Down here several minor City and United players have broken rules recently. Then there were the sex parties under lockdown, some in Paris. In F1, Leclerc had an unauthorised visit home to Monaco and Vettel was in the same car as another team manager. Jofray Archer in cricket broke the lockdown rules they have. Basically young men with too much money think the law doesn’t apply to them. I do agree that the penalties should be tougher, but I’m not sure that would fix the problem.

That's self evident given the cost of a ******' pint in Aberdeen* Look at it from the Scottish Government's point of view. Non action to these covid breaches from the SFA/SPFL will indicate they can't be trusted to implement sanctions for ANY future breaches. It's not then unreasonable to have a lack of faith in Scottish Football being able to control reduced capacity fixtures or any other sort of hybrid return to spectated matches. I doubt our football authorities would punish certain clubs for breaches of social distancing if their fans started forming a series of human pyramids at half time. * not to mention their vastly overpriced haufs (25 ml measures at that!) 2

Miami Marlins stopped playing for a week after 18 players and coaches tested positive after some players broke the bubble and went clubbing, and the St Louis Cardinals haven't played in nearly 2 weeks because some players went to a casino and they subsequently had around 8 positive tests. Fair enough it is a wider problem. My point was mainly we couldnt go 2 weeks without a game called off ( but that could be more to do with the cautious approach in Scotland). Whether they work or not there should be harsh penalties for those who break the rules- if football gets called off again puts hundreds of jobs in jeopardy ( nevermind peoples health by not following the rules) and if thats caused by the actions of a few players then that shouldnt just go unpunished. Didn't actually see the Aberdeen players taking much responsibilty in their statement. Something along the lines of ' we couldn't have foreseen the outbreak in Aberdeen when we went out'- Guess what thats the nature of Covid and thats why you follow the rules. The Football authorities have a responsibility to act here..their role is not only to negotiate the next sky deal to line their pockets. policemans whistle
So Aberdeen and Celtics games will be postponed. so what happens if both clubs strengthen the squads and these players can play in the re-arranged games.
fifexile
The lack of any direction or leadership from the SPFL/SFA is disappointing if not surprising. The SPFL will do anything they can to preserve their Sky deal. Anyone else think that they would have done nothing without being forced to by the ScottishGovernment.
Lambies Lost Doo
Punish the teams not the game and fans. If a team can't play a game through the stupidity and selfishness of their footballers they forfeit the points.
Auld Jag
When Hearts and Thistle started the court case, there was some in the media saying we were putting the sky deal in danger as our actions could delay the start of the season. Wonder if they shall be so outspoken now that premier league teams are putting the 20/21 season in danger for all 42 league teams.

dougie247
So if he was supposed to be quarantining and he played does that not mean he was an ineligible player?
One t in Scotland
Surely the penny must drop sometime soon that taking £8k out the game every week funding an absolute imposter isn't a good idea.
Jag36
Would be good to hear a statement from the SFA and SPFL on this..honestly their silence as a governing body at this time is just incredible. Anyone else got a problem with this?

These were young men acting stupidly the way young people do but for the governing bodies to sit back and hope they can hide from it is inexcusable. Lenziejag
The problem for me is that the next time a player does it, then football stops and that will impact every club in the country. Given that there aren’t many available slots in the calendar to play postponed games Aberdeen and Celtic should be forfeiting these games.

Dick Dastardly
If the government were to put a halt on the return of football, what would be the conditions for restarting again ? With Hibs top of the league, could their players go out on the town, causing the league to be stopped and they would be declared champions (level with Rangers and Ross on average points, but a better goal difference)
