Falkirk telling the methadone 3 to sling their hook ...

Club-Statement.jpg

A number of supporters have contacted the club in connection to an article published by the BBC today. Falkirk Football Club wish to reassure supporters that we have not received an approach from representatives of Dundee United, Raith Rovers or Cove Rangers asking for financial support for their legal costs. If such a request is received, it will be refused immediately.

It’s worth pointing out that the so called ‘goodwill’ we might lose by proceeding is in fact currently lost on many levels in the spfl.....

There really is an irony in Dundee United wanting other teams to pay for their legal fees:

Ayr United - they took 2 of Ayrs best players last summer for free that helped them win the league  and now they are asking Ayr to contribute legal fees for them

Queens Park - used to regularly plunder them for Robertson, Connolly and Spittal and were one of the few clubs that wriggled out of giving them compo because they were amateur status.  Any club could have but most had a set of morals that meant they would give Queens Park some kind of compo, or loan them a couple of players etc.  Dundee United now want Queens Park to pay towards their legal teams.

On another point I see Dunfermline  let ago of around 17 players a couple of months ago and are now assembling a pretty decent squad - McManus, Whittaker etc, now after Alston off Falkirk.  They were fully within their rights to release the 17 players but does raise a few eyebrows that they only did it while allegedly skint and now putting a lot of decent players together. Seemingly they have outbid a number of clubs with regards to McManus wages.  Doesnt likely affect us but I can see them being dark horses possibly next season in the race for the championship

£250K fee from sale of Nisbet probably helps

Not if Hearts are in it. Wasting their money unless we  win the arbitration and are reinstated.

The above article together with the club statement covers the ground well. The Falkirk statement adds moral support and shows we still have a few friends in Scottish Football.   It seems ICT have not been approached for a donation - Bill Clark (Raith Rovers) stating "they have their own view of the world"!

Clark whom I think had a Senior/Executive role in Education clearly has political skills!  He made public statements in April (pre-vote) about helping Hearts, Partick and Stranraer via reconstruction. He made another statement last month related to 14/10/10/10 about helping Falkirk into the Championship.

Turns out Raith Rovers (and Dundee Utd) have not supported any of the reconstruction proposals.  Such behaviour is very consistent with the comments about these clubs  in the 4th Official article!

Adding Dundee's behaviour it can be said that in professional football hypocracy must be part of the DNA  in Dundee!

Bill Clark breaks the world "pot calling the kettle black" record. Well done.

From what i can see most  fans have been raising money to help their clubs through this crisis. I don't think they would be happy to have their clubs then pass some of that money onto other clubs, who may also be their competitors in the coming season. Heard the chairman of Falkirk on sportsound a few weeks ago and he said he had had a very heated discussion with another chairman from a club in the league above. He also added that he thinks it will take years for a number of clubs to get back to having a good relationship.

& so it begins...

although the final destination could ultimately prove unwise

If Thistle / Hearts lose at the SFA Appeal Panel next week, there is a likelihood that DU etc will be awarded their costs in part or in full.   Their sponsored walk makes no comment on any refunds if this is what happens.  This means that other clubs' fans donating to this page will be funding Dundee Utd if they win!!  No doubt they will use this cash "for a good cause"!!!

Not to mention all the clubs that will be queueing up to support them in the spirit of selflessness and fair play

According to the Sun (reported in BBC Sport/Football/Scotland/Gossip) Dundee Utd, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers are angry that, through their recent joint statement, Hearts and Partick are "picking a fight with them"!

This is a very good example of the 'political skills and hypocracy' referred to in the 4th Official article and my earlier post.

Our joint  statement states clearly that Hearts and Partick have no issues with these 3 Clubs! It seems though that in Scottish Football if you stand up to aggression, injustice and unfairness  you are immediately labelled the provocateur!

It's alright for these 3 clubs to take provocative action but it's not alright for Hearts and Partick to challenge it by pointing out it is divisive and possibly against SPFL Rules!

Oh by the way where are and what is the SPFL?

One of the arguments against completing the season was player contracts and eufa regulations around number of transfers allowed within 1 season.
Eufa are obviously not adhering to that with their own competitions, though.
Can we use this in our case ?

Issues like this I think are key points that were absent from or misstated in the paper the SPFL issued to clubs in advance of the vote. They ignored that financial loans could be given, stating instead that end of season was the only way to release funds. They didn’t explore the option to pick up the league post lockdown with an option to shorten 20/21, as they have facilitated for lower leagues. They suggested player registration was a barrier to completion post 30th June, wasn’t a problem for other leagues and the SFA or UEFA competitions. All of these issues and more put in doubt their compliance with the need to act openly, fairly and In the best interests of all.

As far as I understand it various individual fans of different clubs appear to have supported the Dundee United "walkers" by pledging funds.

Has any actual football club said that they have pledged or given support?

Just been said on sportsound they understand that some clubs will help them. They think that premier league clubs in particular will help, so that the season can start for them on the 1st August.

the RR chairman has already gone on record as saying he's received help from other championship clubs - although not hearts or ICT as he said the ICT chair has "his own view of the world" - could have been a bluff though as it was before the joint begging bowl announcement
