This is a bit depressing .....from James cairney......

More injuries at Firhill. Not exactly sure on names but only 12 fit outfield players for tomorrow’s game. Docherty away for a scan on Monday - could be a serious knee injury. McCall says it’s the worst injury crisis he’s faced in 22 years of management.

If Rudden is one of them then I can’t but think there is something going wrong at training.

Even with a near full strength squad we needed more forwards in, but this is just crazy

We changed our training recently to avoid further injuries. Don't know if we've reverted to previous or not. I'm assuming Docherty's injury is directly related to the knock that forced him off at Falkirk.

Game might be off tomorrow- which means it will be rescheduled for Tuesday and I doubt very much that that many of the injuries will have had enough time to clear up in the space of just a couple of days

True but we will hopefully be able to get some extra bodies through the door by then ! (hopefully footballers)

Chances are it'll be someone out of favour at his present club and we'll get the usual "this game has come a bit too early for him". With the current restrictions there's also a stronger than usual possibility a new signing will arrive purely on recommendation/video. On the plus side being based where we are should make our chances of signing a player better than clubs from more provincial areas.

For once January loan deals will make more sense. I don't know the numbers limitation on such deals or whether they've been relaxed this season but I can imagine that would be the route we'll take.

I’m not convinced we will - we have not been linked with anyone and despite from day one of the transfer market knowing that we needed forwards in there doesn’t appear anything on the horizon- even whether we are extending spittals loan is just complete silence presently

Cant see it being played on Tuesday without a fairly fast thaw and no rain otherwise the pitch will be waterlogged. Rearranged for next Saturday anyone?

I am sure training methods have been reviewed but nevertheless as a club we seem to have been in a perpetual injury crisis for most of the last 8 years or so!

I recall one season early in our SPL period when Archibald couldn't fill the bench for quite some time. We seem to have  fallen back into this mode  particularly in the last 3 years.

Injuries on this scale must affect performances and consequently, results!

Would that need Cove's agreement?

Can't see them agreeing if we have an injury crisis!

“Brian Graham and Ryan Williamson are still struggling and Ross Docherty is going to see a specialist to find out more about the injury he picked up on Boxing Day. Tam O’Ware is getting close and Blair Spittal has been back in full training so there is some positive news as well.”

McCall then gave us an insight into how that might affect his January business.

“With all the injuries, it’s leaving us with a small squad at the moment so we are active in the transfer market and we may have to do more business than we’d intended. Gerry and I are working on deals but January is always a tough window so we’ll just have to see what we can get over the line.”
