We are part-time teams' dream opponents: a team of full-time players who are no fitter, no faster, no more skillful, no more determined, no better in defence, no better in attack or midfield, and no better tactically than those part-time teams. And those part-time teams, several of whom are deservedly sitting in superior league positions to us, don't have three managers and a whole backroom squad of support specialists in tow, who are supposed to get us closer to where we want to be. Where in fact is that? Wherever it is, we are still a million years (and growing) away from there, unless there is really an underlying acceptance that we are about to join the likes Clyde, and get surpassed in relevance and influence by Queens Park and the up and coming newbies to the league system.

That's just the embarrassments related to on-field performances.

How about demolishing the city end terracing without actually the planning permission that was "in the bag" for redevelopment of the stadium? Where is the redevelopment?

How about the multi-million pound, top-of-the-range McParland training facility that was publicly touted and splashed across the media? Where is the training facility?

There are many other examples (lost court cases, lapses of security...)

Yep, the cringe factor is understandably strong at Firhill these days. Has been for decades, in fact.

Agree on all of this. We are a dying club which will be passed by , by more ambitious and better run clubs.

I think McCall will be here next season regardless what happens this year.

To be fair to him, he has had to deal with more issues than any other Thistle manager and he left a comfortable job at Ayr where he was overachieving (look where they are now) to come back to a difficult job here. He has also had some of the most horrendous injury lists to deal with.

To be harsh on him, we are in a mainly part time division and have struggled against better organised teams. Some of the big name signings have underperformed to an eye watering degree and lack of confidence on the pitch has spread to off the pitch.

Personally, I think he will be given the time to turn things around and I just hope that he manages it. Lambie brought in season pros when we were last near the bottom of this division and it worked out well. Not saying that McCall is anywhere near this level, but my optimistic Thistle head feels that we are due some good times after what we have all suffered in the last few years.

Mon The Jags.

Looking around the league and bar East Fife no other team appears to have hit the ground running.

Indeed I think the standard has dropped a good bit with the league being suspended. Exhibit A is Forfar's winning goal versus Dumbarton.

Does this excuse our performance on Saturday - No

However I suspect we will see in the next few weeks that the top four and winner of the league will not be playing silky atacking football. They will instead be the teams that take advantage of a lucky break, don't get inuries or suspensions to clear players and  get fortunate decisions. Under normal season length these factors  would usually even out but in a shortened season in 2 parts with player turnover being higher they wil be major factors this season.

I don't we'll see any pretty passing football to watch at Firhill this season. The best we can hope for us is our results improve and we have enough individual talent to win enough games.

The same is I think true of the Premiership and Championship. Sevco ran away with the top league and Hearts look like they will take the championship at a canter however I don't think eithe or them or anyone else has played attractive football.

Yes, he will be here next season, because we can't afford to pay him and his two stooges off. And he won't fall on his sword. Be prepared for misey for a few more seasons.
