I'm saying "Yes", as reaching a Scottish Cup semi with Thistle is a great effort. There are not that many instances, so the award would not be devalued by huge numbers.

I voted "no," as why stop there? Why not quarter-finalists?

It reminds me of weans getting certificates and stars just for attending classes, simply ending the school year, or students actually failing exams but getting a "certificate" anyway.

To bring it back to football: why not "virtual medals" for teams who got into the play-offs but failed to win? How about the losing finalists (and maybe relegated as a result)?

Etc.

Maybe an exceptional award for the 1979 team cruelly denied a chance for glory?

You could say it's been done via Bobby Houston who made #13 in our Top 25 countdown:

Who Put The Ball In The Rangers Net? →

There were obviously pros and cons with the motion, and this was reflected in the voting which was touch and go for a while. In the end it was 33 YES and 43 NO. Many thanks to all who voted and commented . We will respect the will of the Thistle people!

The NO's have it, the NO's have it.
