Stranraer away

Just over 4 hours to ko and no match thread in the big Ramsdens Irn Bru Caramel Teacake clash versus Stranraer so thought I best start one.

Reading Scally’s comments looks like a fringe team to be played.  Mayo, Rudden and Stone with u21’s and Hastie cup tied whilst Bell and Mckenna injured.  A diddy competition but Jags playing so hopefully a win and decent run out for lads knocking on the door and onto a money spinning tie against either St Mirren B or Aberdeen B.

The draw has already been made. If we win we’ll play Broonhill(formerly BSC Glasgow) or QOTS away. They play tomorrow afternoon

A comfortable 90 minutes even if we weren’t at our best. Winning is all that counts in the cup and we were missing 6 players today, so job done.

Sneddon was good again and Holt and Akinola are a good partnership. Sadly probably need to break it up next week to put Akinola at right back if McKenna isn’t fit.

Never convinced of MacIver as a Championship striker but his aerial ability is excellent, times his jumps so well.  Won several balls ahead of much bigger defenders today.

Graham has to cut out the petulance. Had a kick out at a player at Arbroath off the ball, booked last week for throwing the ball into the ground in protest and got involved in a wrestling match today. His edge is part of what makes him the player he is but he needs to cool it at times.

Onwards to QoS or Broomhill

I would keep the Holt/Akinola central defensive partnership, which has been excellent in every way over the past 2 games.

I appreciate that this does mean playing a less than optimum right back. However, Gordon has put in a decent shift and Mayo has shown that as well as being defensively sound, he has confidence to bring the ball forward, so there are options there.

Suits the narrative that’s being portrayed at youth level

or just maybe with a depleted squad, 4 untested academy lads on the bench & the game not being put fully to bed, that the suitable coaching team risk assessment was use up injury time at the end of the game with unnecessary substitutions that won't adversely affect the result
