Individual Players' Physical Performance Stats

A friend of the green and white persuasion sent me this information about Daizen Maeda's performance in the match at Eyepox last weekend.

No guarantees from me about its accuracy, but bloody impressive if it's all true. I'm guessing "xS of 68.2" means an average sprint of 68.2 metres.

45.3 km/hr..... Really???

Would be interested to see our players' equivalent stats...

That has to be dubious.

34km is just short of a Marathon. If he did that in 90 minutes, it would have smashed the world record.

By my maths, 45.3 Km/hr would be running 100m in 7.95 seconds which is more than a second quicker than Usain Bolt ever did it.

Agreed. There are probably kernels of truth, but exaggerated.

Footballers run short distances many times (unless they are lazy or injured); could this amount to over  over 30K in 90 minutes? (Of course while they're not chasing balls, they're still walking/jogging around.) So, maybe.

I also pointed out the Bolt comparison to my friend: Bolt's peak time is measured  over 100 m; Maeda's times are over many much shorter bursts.

These Timothy stats are probably what you could call "creative use of statistics" ( or in some folks views , cheating).

Still a terrific player, who would shake up the whole Firhill set up

According to wikipedia (not always accurate)

For foot speed, the world record is 44.72 km/h (27.78 mph), measured between meter 60 and meter 80 of the 100m sprint at the 2009 World Championships by Usain Bolt. So do we believe that Maeda smashed that, on grass and wearing football boots. I know he is quick, but not that quick.
