McCall is finished. He’s just repeating the same mistakes from his first tenure as manager. As is often the case with his teams, they promise so much before the arse dramatically falls out of it.

It is actually staggering how unfit and badly organised we are all over the pitch. Defenders who look as if they’ve just met each other for the first time.

Depressingly, I doubt we’re in a strong financial position to replace McCall and his two assistances, and let’s be honest, you wouldn’t trust the chair and our board to pick even a vaguely competent replacement.

Speaking of fitness… Fitzpatrick - came on with about 10 mins to go & genuinely looked like he was done 5 mins later. Like he’d just come in from running a marathon. Very odd.

Could have told everyone 10 years ago McCall was a choke artist and yet people can't see past the emotional attachment. Absolute usual from him, shitting the bed when theres a chance to do something. This league is ******* dung, no Killies, Ross Countys or Dundee Utds buying it this year.

We get the manager and team we deserve, when you have people chanting at games slabbering for jobbers like Jamie Sneddon then you absolutely get what you deserve really. Just a sad pathetic loser mentality at Thistle amongst the fans where mediocrity is accepted and people of average talent are treated like martyrs.

And thats just the tip of the iceberg when you consider the absolute charlatans running the club. Seriously alarming whats going on at Firhill just now.

Three takes from tonight.

1. We had 3 really good chances before they scored but not one on target. Sound familiar?

2. Mullen & Fitzpatrick are consistently underwhelming.  Weston  has been underused.

3. If BBC website is to be believed we committed 4 fouls in 90+ minutes (7 on Saturday). Does suggest we're a bit of an easy touch.

That's two games in a row we've been well beaten by teams that look more organised, committed and quite frankly fitter.  Nowhere near good enough, totally embarrassed by the last two performances.  Maybe a bit of a knee-jerk reaction but can't help thinking that our season is shot.

Alarming losing three goals tonight while effectively playing with six defenders. Bannigan and Turner should be exempt from criticism as they were up against four or five Ayr player in midfield. In fact I can't really get too miffed with the players. The bulk of the blame has to be directed towards the manager. Ridiculously rigid formation that a not too impressive opposition exploited with ease.

Agree with you , no idea what they do at Firhill during the week, is there a fitness coach anymore? Darren Brownlie is carrying an extra stone in weight and struggling for mobility as was shown tonight . Surely the first prerequisite for a professional football player  is that they are physically fit regardless of ability.

Re tactics tonight and a lot this must come down to McCall , there must be times when we have to sit in a bit , the amount of times Harry Milne was caught out up the park with no defensive cover was beyond belief .

Time is running out for Ian McCall

Is that three straight giving up 4?

For the first time this season I feel concerned.  Not close to the despondency of others but we have to turn this around very quickly.

Yes, 3 last 3 games we have lost 4 goals per game.

I have said on other threads how quickly we bounce back will tell us how good the team and manager is. With Raith Rovers (A), Dundee (H), Morton (A) and Arbroath (H) to take us to end of November it doesn't look easy.

Brian Grahams got to score 4 goals to get us a draw. Owen Coyle on "Under the Cosh" for those interested in what a proper manager looks like. Never mind our top Scout is at the wheel.

We do joke about Owen Coyle being spotted in Maryhill Rd etc but at least he has his Queens Park team fit, fast, hungry and organised which seems to the opposite of our lot.  Something is amiss especially paying a manager and 2 assistants and having an unfit, injury prone squad ,continual tactical errors and shambolic defending.

From the gaffer “"I saw a Thistle team give everything but we weren't good enough in both boxes."

No wonder we are flogging the £89 bottles of whisky.

I would say bring back Jackie Mac, but that would just lead to the usual jobs for the boys act. We need an off-field clear out from top to bottom.

We pumped Morton, they sorted themselves out and went on a decent run after. We get pumped and resort to playing a craig leveinesk 6-2-2 and continue to get pumped. In my job, if you seeing someone about to attempt something stupit, you intervene. Our two 'Assistants' are yes men that put cones down on a patch of grass. Not good enough. Time is up for them. Use the Aberdeen income to pay them off. We are going nowhere with these eejits in charge.

12 goals conceded in 3 games isn't good and the defence has been a concern for most of the season.

Looking at the highlights from last night Muirhead doesn't go with his runner for the first, Brownlie has a brainfart for the second, Milne is at fault for the third and the 4th is probably more down to trying to chase the game. So many individual errors in a game tends to point to confidence being the major issue.

Whilst the formation wasn't our normal one and the performance leaves a lot of room for improvement with current injuries I'm not too sure that there is an alternative  in the short term but to go with a similar formation and starting 11 for Saturday against Raith.

Perhaps Hodson showed enough in midfield that if Docherty was fit we could play 2 defensive midfields to try and shore up the defence? Maybe Weston should be deployed as a striker rather than as a winger and hope his finishing is better than Graham, Dowds and Mullen? Or do you go to extreme levels and put Graham or Dowds in at centre-half to see if they can provide a stop gap?

Other than that we have to hope that getting minutes into Akinola and Brownlie will start to see one or both turn a corner. We desperately need a clean sheet to restore some confidence even if it blunts some of our attacking play.

Don't see too many unsigned central defenders that would help. Morton are meant to be looking at Efe Ambrose and if thats the best available then we probably need to stick with what we have until January.

On the face of it, the current squad is a modest improvement on last year's yet the implosion last year didn't happen until much later in the season - in truth then it was always coming but it took until Hamilton 0-4 at Firhill for it to materialise. This season it again appears that it has been coming for a few weeks but instead of Spring it has happened in Autumn - perhaps seasonally adjusted disorder?

Mind you it might just be a blip but not convinced given that it seems to be a regularly recurring event.

One positive to draw is that the quality of our own goals has improved dramatically. Last week we were resorting to scrappy deflections. Now we can do spectacular diving headers.

Darren Brownlie's work of art reminded me of a similar own goal by an ex Thistle defender that was featured on Match of the Day in the old days when they only showed one match. My memory tells me late 1960s by Sandy Brown playing for Everton, but others may have a more accurate recollection.
