Jaggernaut's Japan

If anybody is interested, I have a Youtube channel with a couple of hundred short video clips of humdrum, everyday life and things in Japan. The videos are short, around 1 to 3 minutes, and as a bonus there is neither narration nor any sign of me.... I just whip out my iPhone and take videos fairly randomly. So these are not at all "tourist" or "Hey, look at me in Japan!" videos. They're just brief records of things I see in Kyoto and other places in Japan on a daily basis as a "gaijin" (GuyJim, geddit?) who's been living and working in Japan for most of the past 20 years.

Here's the most recent vid, from earlier today. From there it's easy to find others.

Enjoy! (Or, grit your teeth!)

Auld Jag,

Even under normal circumstances (including pre-covid) people here do not hesitate to wear a face mask if they feel they are unwell..... a sore throat, a cough, a cold..... It's just as much for the benefit of others around them as for themselves. So there was virtually zero resistance and 100% compliance with the official pandemic-related advice to wear a mask when around other people. The advice has been downgraded now to "especially in enclosed spaces," e.g. shops, restaurants, buses, trains.... but many people continue to wear them even outside. Next month covid will be downgraded further to the same level as influenza, but you can be sure that many more people than before will continue to wear masks on a regular basis.
