King Kenny Posted February 3, 2025 Report Share Posted February 3, 2025 It's sad to be losing Milne but what a great move for him. He's been brilliant for us, arguably our best player over the last 3 seasons and will be very difficult to replace. A five figure fee is probably about right given he's out of contract in the summer and getting a player on loan in return. An argument to be had about difference in prizemoney between 4th and 5th but if we can't finish 4th in this league with the squad we have then we have bigger problems than losing Harry Milne. I think the club & Doolan are also unlikely to want to stand in Milne's way at a relatively life changing transfer for him. From part time to Thistle to the 4th biggest team in the country within a few years is great testament to him. He's unlikely to make the difference between getting into the playoffs and getting promoted and would be away at the end of the season anyway. We'd end up with nothing in that scenario. laukat Posted February 3, 2025 Report Share Posted February 3, 2025 Scott Martin would be a decent signing. I thought when Docherty left the closest thing to replacing him. I don't think he has Docherty's creativity but he's proper ball winner and leader. If Robinson is going the other way then I would still think we go the better of the deal. To my mind whilst Robinson is intelligent and a proper nuisance up front his pace has dropped off to the level that if he was staying he shouldn't be an automatic starter. If Martin does arrive it probably means Stanway's chances are limited. Equally a midfield 3 from 5 of Martin, McBeth, Bannigan, Crawford and Turner looks much more interesting.
