What’s pretty alarming is we have an absolutely unbalanced side yet again. In central midfield we have Bannigan, Turner, Macbeth, Mckenzie and Crawford. And now Martin. In central defence we have Ashcroft, Oreilly, Muirhead and I suppose Macbeth can be included. So we have 1 goalkeeper, 4 wingers (2 of which are coming back from serious injury..) 2 strikers and 2 full backs, both of whom are on loan. What the **** is going on ? This is absolute nonsense, there is absolutely no plan in place here ! Say what you want about McCall btw but he always had a player that would move on to help us with cash. There is no one now. Milne was the last !! Disgrace ! You missed Stanway, who imo definitely deserves a decent run in the team, rather than the usual non-producers. Good luck to Scott Robinson as well. Hope Scott Martin and Ethan Drysdale have a successful time at Firhill. Agreed. Harry Milne has been excellent for us, so aggressive and inspiring, and also intelligent and honest in his interviews. Some great goals in his catalogue, Always love a towering header! Wishing him every success at Hearts. Scott Robinson has been good in parts (especially away at Ross County in the Scottish Cup revenge game), but has rarely been able to string together an injury free run. There has been a slight downturn in recent months, so probably right time to move on. Quite enjoyed the humour in Scott Martin's JagZone interview. He was healthily self-deprecating, but I think that he might be a tougher cookie than his humble expression would indicate. Lady Isobel Barnett will be delighted that we now have the hard tackling midfielder she has posted about almost as often as JJ has torn shreds out of TJF and/or Tranche 2. Know nothing about Ethan Drysdale but here's hoping that he has something to offer.

Didn’t say your anti or pro anything, my point is we had decent players coming in capable of selling on while McCall was here, we now have **** all ! This is what you said “Say what you want about McCall btw but he always had a player that would move on to help us with cash” The only one that made us any cash is Milne today, 2 years after McCall was sacked. Nobody else made us any money so your point outwith Milne is nonsense.

Playing arguably your best and most creative midfielder at right back is daft. He's tried his best at right-back but he's smart enough to know his failings there have cost us points and getting subbed off against Ayr at halftime did nothing for his confidence. Players thrive on confidence and belief, just now he is playing like all of his has been taken away. He was bloody dreadful before his RB spell. He’s one of the senior players to have let everyone down. But he should have taken Saturday’s penalty!

The Legend Blows
What a nightmare if you're a Thistle player right now and you've not managed to get a move away in January. Don't worry lads, you've only got 128 days left until you can escape. Get that agent of yours working for their money and aiming for 12th June! I agree. Couldn’t believe he didn’t start at Ayr after his great goal vs Accies. Could he play 10? Robinson was 100% man but was exposed recently for a lack of pace. Perhaps the board watched his recent performances.

It really looked like that on Saturday when the senior players (I’ll name them), Ashcroft, Turner, Robinson, Graham and Fitzpatrick could all have been subbed at half time. Motivation appears to be a problem. I recall Martin coming to blows with a Hamilton player after we scored at New Douglas. He’s a good wee competitive growler who takes no crap, just what we need. I’d have preferred Wilson of Morton who dominated us on Saturday but I think Martin will do fine. Milne was fantastic and Robinson did a job but I agree that a football club needs regular freshening. If we don’t make 4th we need a huge clear out of players and management in the summer.

stuart_adam
Things don't look great but happy with Scott Martin signing. To then release on official site saying squad of 23, I am guessing they are counting the 4 apprentices as by my counts there are only 19. 4 boys that haven't kicked a ball for us being included in those numbers feels a little sneaky. If we can pickup another Goalkeeper, and Attacking player with McKay coming back, should be good enough to finish this season.

javeajag
The whole recruitment and squad building has been an utter shambles this season. You don’t have to be a genius to work out we are in cost cutting mode. when we had 31 players in the first team squad a few people said ah but that includes 4 youngsters now we have a squad of 23 which eh includes 4 youngsters. We have a squad of 19 with one goalkeeper and one striker but thankfully 10 midfield players….. clearly we are going to try and bring in one it two loanees with a keeper a priority. we now have to hope we don’t get any injuries. the squad is clearly weaker than it was with no strength in depth. baffling stuff
jagfox
I'm okay going into the final third with a trimmed first team squad. I'd assume it focuses the manager's mind on the players he has. Almost worked at the end of Doolan's first season. Maybe Ablade getting a run could be the Fitzpatrick of that spell? The potential issue is does Doolan have his first eleven and first line of subs in mind now the transfer window has slammed shut? The club statement suggesting we are still looking to add to the squad suggests not. Then again what manager tends to say no to a new player? I feel we should certainly secure 4th place now but anything above that would be a surprise to me. Even a Hollywood signing wouldn't likely change that but still a good number of games to go. On the topic of Sylvia (OK, it's probably not the same one), I adore the song about her mother, by Dr Hook. Brings back memories of when you had to make long-distance calls through an operator! I know a few would want Ian MCCall, I would be fine with someone like Ian Murray who is a fairly decent manager, but in terms of a Sporting Director role I’ve always felt has good contacts in the game and assembled decent squads
