Who’s in and who’s out in January?

Airdrie have certainly hit a bit of form over the last few months. Only 3 defeats in eleven games - two against Falkirk and one against Ayr United. I do feel it will be too little too late for them but at least they are putting up a bit of a fight.

McCabe not getting the recognition he deserves. People seem fixated on league position, rather than consider all the circumstances he has had to work with.

Queens Park - oh dear. They are in freefall and their run in does not look good. Huge matches coming up soon v Dunfermline and Hamilton.

Didn't have to be mystic meg to know that the Queens Park experiment would eventually hit the buffers but looks like the train is picking up speed

Willie Haughey's Queen's Park exit claims its first victim as academy that spawned Andy Robertson to be axed - Daily Record

Haughey is quoted elsewhere as saying the club will have no debt when he leaves however that doesn't they will be in a good financial place (e.g. who owns Lesser Hampden and pays for the upkeep, who pays the player contracts that will be at championship level wages etc)

Unlikely Queens get automatically relegated this season but I suspect in 5 years time Queens Park will be fighting to stave of relegation to the lowland league and maybe worse.

Feel Queens Pk lost their soul when they went professional. Even when they were riding high and coming close to winning the League I couldn't see where the sustainability was going to come from. They're one of the few clubs whose home support is regularly less than the visiting support. Given the capacity of Lesser Hampden away fans would be locked out in their hundreds on a regular basis. I just don't get it.

I'm only half joking when I say I can foresee them amalgamating with Clyde in the not too distant future.

I see that Louis Moult is one of the players out of contract at Dundee Utd. I don’t know if his time at Motherwell overlapped with Baraclough, but interesting to see if our new SD could tempt him to Firhill

I’d imagine he’ll be on a few grand a week, well out out price range, plus 5 or 6 Prem teams would be looking at him aswell. Looks like it was IB that signed him in June 2015, but was then sacked in September 2015.

I’ve no idea if there’s any truth in it or not but a few Dumbarton fans on pie and bovril a couple of weeks ago saying we have signed Michael Ruth from them for next season.

They rate him quite highly one of the few Dumbarton players according to them who has scored double figures for them a few seasons in a row.

as I say no idea if any truth was mentioned by Dumbarton fans themselves

I hope that QP don’t get relegated this year. I suspect they will be weaker than Pars, Accies or Airdrie next season.

Haughey will still be with them next season so they will probably have a reasonable amount of money next season.

I can’t see Accies being able to continue to fork out on higher wages for likes of Shaw, Bradley, Smith etc

not joining us but one of our former youth players- wasn’t aware he as a youth that he transferred from us to Queens Park? Did we get a fee or I guess the bigger question is will we be entitled to a fee if he goes to Crystal Palace.  I suppose every penny helps if we do

Spiders fans are gutted he is leaving so surprising we let him join them in the first place

Yes I know it is not January but would you take any of these at Firhill next season?

Following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, Dunfermline Athletic can provide the following squad update.

Leaving the club at the end of their contracts are Aaron Comrie, Joe Chalmers, Craig Wighton, Rhys Breen, David Wotherspoon, Craig Clay, Michael O’Halloran and Omar Taylor-Clarke.

Nope. Albeit I don't really know all of them....but we absolutely need some younger players in for obvious reasons.

I would hope/expect our sporting director is currently looking at players that could be of interest to us for season 25/26 and beyond. I do realise that this depends on what happens in the playoffs.

Iirc we had Breen on loan from Rangers, possibly the covid season.

Agree with Y & R in so much as Comrie would be a decent enough signing. Certainly no reason to believe he wouldn't do a job for us. That said I wouldn't be enthusiastic if he typified our signing policy. He's probably reaching, or has reached, his peak, performance wise. Would hope generally for signings that are younger with higher potential.  But as an exception to the rule Comrie would be fine by me.

Does Wighton not have a really good scoring record at Firhill ?

Not sure about Firhill, but I am sure that he scored the equaliser for Dundee against us at Dens Park in the second game of season 2014-2015.

We beat Ross County 4-0 at Firhill in our first game. Gary Fraser scored a worldie at Dens Park to put us 1-0 up, and it really seemed that we were going places. After Craig Wighton scored reality returned.
