Site Closure - STILL HERE

I realise that there are issues about confidentiality and data protection, but I wonder if there is a safe way to hold a database of this forum's posters' email addresses that could be accessed in future to inform them of any new forum.  That would be better I think than waiting for the word to spread via say Pie and Bovril.  Perhaps the Club could help.

If forum members want to keep this place alive, there is a way to do it.

Tom has indicated a willingness to hand the forum over to a new set of admins and moderators if they're willing to step up and take on those responsibilities.

TJF has no interest in running the forum itself (its value is in major part its independence from the club's custodians).

But we are willing to facilitate discussions about a handover if there are willing volunteers.

To add to WJ's post above, the original intention was to close a week after our final game of season.

Well, that potentially means a week today.

Things are stable at home at the. Oment so there is no real need to stick to that timescale.

To help facilitate any handover we'll stay active till the end of May. That seems like a more natural finishing time in any case.

Hopefully though someone can step in and keep it going.

Like an outgoing Prime Minister's Honours List I plan a Dishonours List to signify my departure from 'office'. 😂

I know Cappielow's a dump, but there's really no need to call it The Other Place.

First and foremost, it's good to know that things are stable at home at present. Long may that continue!

Second, it's brilliant that the site can remain active and that there may be a handover. Fingers and toes crossed that this might come to pass. Please guys, anybody who has the time, patience and ability to step in, pleeeaase volunteer!

Third, we'll all keenly await the admin's Dishonours list! Well, maybe not so much those of us prone to exaggeration, catastrophizing,  repetitiveness, abusive and language, libel, rumour mongering, puns (guilty!), and so on.

Really though: a great big thanks Admin, and all the best!

I’ve replied but would like to better understand the roles/responsibilities a bit more before committing to anything.

Was going to put a like or thank you, but it seems that you are not allowed to like or thank an administrator! Let me say thank you again for all past endeavours, plus your willingness to allow time added on to facilitate potential future endeavours. All much appreciated!

That's exactly the purpose of facilitating a conversation with those who are interested. If it's not for you it's not for you, but best to find out!

  • 2 weeks later...

Just to echo how much of a godsend this forum has been (well mostly, not necessarily after a disappointing defeat!) but as a hub for discussion with fellow fans since I think the tail end of the first Mccall era about 15 years ago. Through promotion season 12-13 and ensuing years up in the Premiership, this forum was fantastic to have especially when I studied then lived & worked in Germany for a few years. Though I don't know many of you in person I'm bound to have seen some of you at Firhill, in the pub, or laterally serving in Alan Rough Lounge last season (guy that resembled Prince William if you must know). Admin, thank you for all the time & effort you have put into this which is far too easily taken for granted - it has not gone unnoticed 👏

16 hours left. I will greatly miss each and every one of (most of) you.

Admin, thank you for all the work you have put in to keep this forum going. I wish your family all the very best.

Take care everyone

Phil

I should say there were some volunteers came forward and I did pass details onto admin but I’m not sure what’s happened with it?

Never heard a peep so I sent a DM on the 18th.  Figured Tom’s already got someone local worked out, but I’m on standby.
