New Manager Thread

See when you look at Calum Davidson, and Michael Tidser, and actually just about everyone ever...

Do you ever think there's really no such thing as good and bad football managers (except maybe at the very highest level)? Just good luck and back luck.

Somewhat, aye. But also, a manager is just one person. There's a whole gaggle of folk behind the scenes and if the manager doesn't work well with them for whatever reason it can all go very wrong.

So it's maybe about personalities and inter-relationships amongst a wider staff/board cohort, alongside the skills (or lack of) in those other people the gaffer needs to work with. Plus a ton of luck. I'm sure talent comes into it but like you say, it can't be as simple as all that.

The Jobby that just won't flush. Sums up the entire mentality of this club to wind the clock back 15 years to recruit one of "the boys." Hoping that common sense prevails, because the entire club is in desperate need of some fresh blood and fresh ideas. But I wouldn't count on it.

Not exactly sure a mate of the General Manager is a fresh idea and smacks of one of "the boys" appointment as well

If the choice is McCall who knows the Scottish player pool and leagues or Barraclough who's experience is more towards non-league English football then I would rather have McCall.

That being said as the pair of them have virtually no experience as a Sporting Director/Director of Football I would like to think there are better candidates on the shortlist.

It won't be McCall but, like you, I would have hoped to have two better options than that.

It might be the case that the successful cadidate is given the role because he is preferred by the GM, not necessarily  because he is the best person for the job. Levi Gill seems to be carrying a lot of clout at the club.

I'm hoping we get someone in that can make a positive difference. As I've said before though, I don't trust those that are running the club at the moment to do so.

Is it really down to McCall who has been here before or Barraclough who is Levi Gill’s pall ? Are the other 3 discarded already?

No, but these are the only names that have been mentioned. If there are 5 getting second interviews then I would assume that all 5 have equal chances. Why go to the expense of interviewing someone, who presumably has to travel to Glasgow, if they have been discounted

You seem very confident. It concerns me that he has a second interview

McCall didn’t but Baraclough did- with his mate on the interview board. The same Levi Gill who claimed he didn’t get involved in the football side of the club - aye right!!!

To give the illusion of carrying out a full interview process - happens all the time - preferred candidate is identified very early on - but you go through the "process"
