Fawlty Towers
So the team that finished fourth has signed someone from the team that finished 3rd whilst the team that finished 3rd has signed two players from the team that finished fourth and it seems a lot of fans from both teams are happy said players have left. It's a funny old game!

Its not him going that seems the issue, it’s the fact a long serving legend at club has been left in limbo and treated pretty poorly is the issue. I would suggest that you ask your source to stop making things up. He was clearly speaking to the club on the 4th of June based on this news item. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/squad-update-4th-june-2025/

We need to reduce the age of the team, particularly in midfield and as the only midfielder out of contract he is the easiest to move on. However I suspect we have yet again not handled this wonderfully well and I suspect Bannigan will probably have left because we didn't talk to him not because he didn't want to stay or Wilson wanted rid. If so, thats no way to treat any player and eventually an unprofessional approach will lose us players we want to sign. Now we have to look for replacements and as much as Barraclough is incapacitated I would have hoped that replacements for Bannigan had been scouted before the season end as it was well known his contract was due to expire. I have my doubts and I think the signing of Paddy Reading indicates Mark Wilson is doing most of the work right now without much support. However I suspect we have yet again not handled this wonderfully well and I suspect Bannigan will probably have left because we didn't talk to him not because he didn't want to stay or Wilson wanted rid. It seems more likely that we didn’t give him an offer that he was happy with.
fenski
What's going on? Lots of people coming up with their own guesses and theories then sharing them on social media. The signal to noise ratio is very poor. But I guess we're all used to it by now.

Our last game was 16th May. Assuming an offer was made around 4th June that's about 3 weeks. As Bannigan was our player we didn't need to wait until June to start talking to him. We probably didn't because we didn't have a head coach until the 30th May but then again you would have thought our Sporting Director could have dealt with that prior to the 30th, to at least give him some indication of if he was likely to get an offer. As I said before , Bannigan moving on is the right footballing decision. However it just feels like maybe Wilson wanted to keep him but because there was such a gap between end of season and any offer being tabled it allowed other offers to appear and a degree of dissatisfaction to manifest

dl1971
Clearly this will be a very different looking thistle team next year. Will it be better who knows. I agree it was time for Banzo to move on, but he deserves great respect for his thistle career. Those who could not see what he brought to the team are pretty misguided. Scott Brown knows a thing or two about playing midfield I'd imagine.

Wouldn’t Bannigan have gone on holiday, like most players, after the 16th. I would have expected the SD to at least have let Bannigan know what the process was likely to be, but maybe Barraclough went away before Bannigan got back ? Who knows? Bannigan didn’t want to stick around Firhill for his own reasons. It’s history.

thornwoodjag
So we obviously going to sign a keeper, who is a realistic target ? Andrew McNeil just left Raith ? Dabrovski or whatever his name is ? Albison from Hamilton? Bud back ? Jamie Sneddon even Or some unknown from down south ?
