Wilson has spoken highly of Bannigan since he became co manager. The inevitable departure of Graham and speculation that Chalmers is leaving will free up some of the budget but that may only accommodate - or merely narrow- the gap to the new budget ceiling. Big Col
Bannigan should be thanked for his service and shown the door. We don’t need someone who can only pass a ball sideways or backwards. Not to mention the lost head moments in crucial games.
King Kenny
No real surprises. Our biggest issue last season was how imbalanced our midfield was. Nobody could really drive forward with the ball meaning we always played it wide. At his best it was something Turner could do but he was poor last year and is now injured for the start of the season. Early days but its a bit concerning our squad could essentially be the same midfield next season as the one who misfired last year.

fenski
Fairly predictable. Quite a lot of work to be done then, considering the first four, maybe five, names on the list are either long-term injured or likely/rumoured to be leaving. Banzo - I'd keep - continuity/experience in the dressing room - easy to take that for granted if you judge a player purely by what you see on the park. Although IMO his performances haven't been as poor as some think. Especially when you consider the role he's been asked to undertake in a midfield which has lacked balance for a long time. MarciaBlaine
If we had a minimal number of midfielders signed up, I'd keep Bannigan because he's been very good since coming back into the side imo. The problem is we have so many other contracted midfielders, several of whom I'd happily ship out before Banzo is shown the door, but we're likely stuck with them. Putting it another way: if we could treat our midfield like an old school Etch-a-Sketch and start from the beginning again, I'd have no qualms about putting him in the picture, but the screen's already crowded and I'm not sure there's space for him.
laukat
I'm not sure where the idea comes that we are going to have an inexperienced team comes from when you look at the players under contract. Current starters with ages looks like the following New GK (?) McBeth (25) - Ashcroft (31)-O'Reilly (30) Mackay (24)- Bannigan (32)- Crawford (30)-Stanway (20)-Fitzpatrick (24) Graham(37)-Chalmers(25) Subs/injured: Martin (28), Kyle Turner (27), Lawless (34), Diack (20), McKenzie (19) We do need to add goalkeepers, fullbacks and forwards (especially if Graham goes) but its still going to be a pretty experienced team unless we agree an exit for some. I suspect we will more use the younger players as backup rather than having 2 experienced players for every position. If we're keeping Bannigan then our midfield options will be exactly the same as last season, just a year older and our midfield last season looked too old. chunky jag
That remaining squad is frighteningly thin, a lot of players with major form or injury problems, without quality additions thats a squad thats fighting to survive in this league, particularly when u consider graham unlikely to be there. We need 2 keepers, 3 or 4 full backs, - 1 of which can cover at cb. 2-3 midfielders, despite some improved performances in the play offs i am still a long way off thinking crawford and stanway are anywhere near good enough. and given graham and or chalmers maybe away, Mackays injury ,lawless looked done last year, we need maybe 2-3 forwards/wingers. i hope barraclough put a magic wand on his wedding list! ChiThistle
I think Banzo would be happy to make forward passes if we had either: - Players in an advanced position making a run toward goal - Players in an advanced position coming short to accept a pass Ive Rarely seen either thing happen when the ball is in the center of midfield, and that’s what I don’t understand about our offense. Get turner back into the advanced midfield role when he's back and that should solve that
Fawlty Towers
Nothing to do with our squad at the moment but I must confess I was not aware of these new plans. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c8re4yek5n0o
jagfox
That squad is a decent basis but excluding Graham, Bannigan and the three injured lads we have 10 signed players who could start the season and a handful of apprentices. Still a massive amount of work to be done. Reading between the lines and with Turner and Martin out Banzo will get a deal. He'd want 12 months the club might be thinking 6 with an extension. No goalkeepers, full-backs, experienced centre-forward or defensive midfielders. We need 7 or 8 bodies in I would say. Probably get 2 or 3 loans amongst that. Interesting times... Dick Dastardly
Ethan Drysdale returning to Hearts. How are we going to to replace his contribution.
Earnock Jag
I think that Rooney, Low and Dolan might do a job next season after impressing at the end of last season. Certainly at least as back up for injuries etc
johnkebab71
Same old same old. Inevitable that Banzo will stay but this has to be the fair well season along with Lawless. Be better with these 2 off the wages and try freshen things up. Big Season for Fitz, largely dugmeat but hopefully Wilson can get something out of him. Without 3 or 4 decent signings I don’t hold much hope. Hopefully make better use of the loan market to bolster the squad, something that we have been abysmal at. Over and above not winning thru in the play offs the biggest disappointment for me was that the fans were unable to say goodbye to Ethan in a befitting manner. 1

Got to agree , with the retained players left , we’ve got absolutely no chance of doing anything and if BG leaves it’s going to be a relegation battle

Slow, getting slower every month, passes almost entirely sideways or backwards, sets out to get one or more yellow cards in every game, and is as good as a man down in the eyes of the opposition. Nope. I don't get it.
