Gary Mackay-Steven 35

Football team or an " old peoples home "

Andy Dowie came in at a similar age & similar time of the season in 2013 & played a big part in getting us over the line so maybe Gary can as well.

Read Wilson's comments on signing GMS on the thethistle and you can see Wilson has considered were we fell short in the playoffs last year.

Livingston weren't anything great but they had a large pool of fit players and ultimately that got them through against us and against county.

I don't expect GMS to start many competitive games. If St Johnstone do secure the title early I expect GMS to be used in the dead rubbers to keep Fitzpatrick, Taylor and others fresh but he is a creative option to throw on the park in the last 20 minutes that might just get us a goal or an assist or change the game in our favour. He should hopefully be up to full match fitness for the playoffs so also means we're not completely reliant on Chalmers and Watt returning.

There's not many free agents available that are wingers let alone many that could be game ready and know the league. Also can't imagine he's on huge money so really can't see the negative in having him in the squad.

I'm very happy to read Alex has signed up for another season.

He brought the commitment and physical side most knew of but he has been a real focus for the attack allowing the goals to be spread around while also bagging a decent haul in his own right.

We are still just about, in a potential title chase thanks in large part to those goals. If he bags the winner tonight we are genuine contenders again...

Alex Samuel has contract extended for 1 year by the club.

He showed his worth to the team yet again tonight. His position to be in the right place for Crawford's cross showed great instinct. Great way for him to celebrate extending his contract.

Gary Mackay-Steven played in a bounce-game last night.

Tony Watt back running and playing golf. He hopes to be back for the last couple of games of the league campaign.

Good to hear that Tony is on course in more ways than one!
