sandy
Article highlighting that Stanway and Fitzy are out of contract https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hearts/13-free-agents-spfl-clubs-hearts-hibs-could-consider-this-summer-6826211 Edited April 20 by sandy
JAG1970
Disappointed that Fitzy hasn’t signed up beyond this season. Presumably we’ve tired/trying to secure him, and it may still happen, but perhaps like Stanway he’s thinking of moving elsewhere. It didn’t work for him the last time he thought the grass was greener somewhere else.

He should simply resign himself to Scottish Championship level because an initial move at a very young age didn't work out. He's still young and I'd not think it unreasonable for him to have a little more ambition than that myself.

But he’ll know from that experience and his time at QOS whether he really wants to work away from home.
Fawlty Towers
New deal for Cammy Logan: https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/cammy-logan-contract-option-triggered/ I am happy with that as I think he has a lot of good attributes and keeps the continuity we have in defence. All we need now in that area is to bring in another left back as we have been fortunate that Reading has both played well and been injury free this season but some cover is required. But I’m also surprised we’re second in the league given original season expectations, so in Mark Wilson I trust.

I've mixed feelings about this. He's good going forward, but a bit of a bombscare defending. e.g. 1st game at mcDiarmid, great assist for our wonderful 1st goal, then utterly rinsed by McPake. Also scored our season's opener at Meadowbank in assured fashion. But in Wilson & Baraclough we trust...

Fawlty Towers
And now a new deal for Crawford: https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/robbie-crawford-signs-one-year-contract-extension/ He gets a bit of stick from some but, in my opinion, is the type of player every team needs and it is normally when he is missing you appreciate what he does more. Good to see we are going to be in a stronger position squad wise this summer than we were last year.
Yellow & Redneck
Ridiculous decision to keep Logan. L1 player at best.

jagfox
I guess there seems to be a good team spirit so no harm in keeping as much of the band together for next season as possible. I suppose it will also give each player a boost as we, more than likely, head into the playoffs... Edited April 21 by jagfox
Winter of '63
Mark Wilson has hardly put a foot wrong all season...but these re-signings are really disappointing even if we remain in the Championship. I haven't seem much of Logan but he hasn't been near first choice and hasn't shown any sign of improving enough to challenge McPherson...I'd rather we tried to sign Ingram particularly if we are promoted. I have never seen any merit in Crawford - he runs about to little effect - some time ago, I referred to him as Shea Gordon without the goals. Turner & Martin haven't shown that much this season and may not be offered new contracts but both have more to offer than Crawford. I assume Chalmers & Stanway will have better signing offers and it is concerning that Fitzpatrick has not yet signed an extension. We will have a much bigger budget if we go up but whatever division we are in, signing good enough players for our level will be a challenge. King Kenny
Strange to offer Logan an extension but it’s perhaps an indication of where our budget is looking next season. One worry will be if we go up, not a chance guys like Logan will be up to it. I guess it’s a difficult balance of trying to get ahead of things for next season whilst holding out to see what league we’ll be in. That’s 7 defenders signed up for next season. I’m a little concerned we jumped the gun with Ashcroft and Logan but Wilson has earned enough trust to suggest he knows what he’s doing. sandy
Neither deal that inspiring. Maybe fine for the Championship, but not good enough if we are to get promoted.
Fawlty Towers
It is rare that fans of a team agree to any great degree on the merits or otherwise of a player so we have to trust the people making the decisions and so far I think Wilson has got a lot more right than he has wrong.

We've already got our keeper (with an option on our backup, which I wouldn't be surprised if we activated), a full defence and 3 strikers signed up. It's only midfield where we're light (in a turnaround from recent seasons), so yes I don't expect a great deal of transfer activity, particularly if we don't go up. I know that Wilson has said he does not want to have to bring in 10 players again as we did when he got appointed and if we were able to keep the likes of Fitzpatrick, Chalmers and Stanway it would reduce the need for new signings but I think that will all depend on how the play offs go. I would hope that between him and Baraclough there are different lists based on the potential outcomes which we would look to act on quickly once we know our fate.
