Fawlty Towers
The team are back in league action with a home game against Glasgow City kicking off at 1pm. I hate using the term "free hit" but basically that it what our next 2 games are and then the final 2 before the split are the key ones (away to Montrose and home to Accies). If we can win those last 2 games (assuming we don't get any points from the next 2) we stand a very good chance of being 6th at the split looking at the way the fixtures work out. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-fixture/partick-thistle-wfc-v-glasgow-city-18th-january-2026/
Fawlty Towers
Good luck to the team today. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-fixture/partick-thistle-wfc-v-glasgow-city-18th-january-2026/
Fawlty Towers
A 3-0 defeat today against a team who are much technically better, fitter and stronger than the teams in the bottom 5. It was 2 sloppy goals from corners in the first half though which cost us. However it is the Montrose and Accies games coming up which will decide our top 6 fate. Albert's Ghost
Motherwell just conceded, which is good.
Fawlty Towers
An away game against Hearts today with a 4pm kick off. Not to sound defeatist but not expecting to pick up any points from this one, it will be the next two against Montrose and Accies which will determine if we are top or bottom six. As long as Montrose and Accies get beaten today (Aberdeen play Motherwell so draw suits us). https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-fixture/hearts-wfc-v-partick-thistle-wfc-25th-january-2026/ Edited January 25 by Fawlty Towers
Fawlty Towers
A 4-0 defeat away to Hearts but other results went our way so a break next week then a big game away to Montrose.
Fawlty Towers
Just to confirm that we don't have a fixture tomorrow as it is the League Cup semi finals. We are back in action on the 8th of Feb with a game away to Montrose which we must win to have a chance of being 6th come the split.
Fawlty Towers
As we approach the weekend time to look at how things lie in terms of making the top 6. Everyone has played 16 games so 2 more before the split takes place (this season it is top 6, bottom 4). Current positions are: 6th - Montrose 15pts 7th - Aberdeen 11pts (-22 GD) 8th - Motherwell 11pts (-24 GD) 9th - Partick Thistle 11pts (-36 GD) 10th - Accies 2pts Our last 2 games are Montrose (a) and Accies(h) so win both and we finish on 17pts. That would mean Montrose would need to beat Rangers on the last game to get past us. Motherwell have Hibs (a) and Glasgow CIty (h) whilst Aberdeen have Hearts (a) and Hibs (h) so I don't expect either of them to pick up too many points. Getting the win at Montrose this Sunday is going to be vital but it is always a tricky game up there.
Fawlty Towers
Good Luck to the team today in their game away to Montrose (4.30pm kick off). https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-fixture/montrose-wfc-v-partick-thistle-wfc-8th-february-2026/

Fawlty Towers
Excellent 2-1 victory today away to Montrose which means that if we beat Accies in a fortnight we will be top 6 at the split on the assumption that Montrose don't beat Rangers away.

That is a brilliant result. Obviously we have to do the business against Hamilton. Looking at the fixtures, I find it hard to believe that for the vital round of pre-split games, some kick off at different times. Accordingly even if we beat Hamilton, because the other game kicks off later, Montrose and Rangers could deliberately concoct a result which is against our interests. Great result for the Ladies today especially to beat Montrose on their home ground and also to see Longcake back and scoring. She is the one player I feel we have missed. Rangers are 5 points adrift of Glasgow City and 2 points behind Hearts. Therefore they are still in with a chance of winning the league. I can't believe that in this situation they would even think of throwing the game to Montrose. At home v Hamilton we must surely win this and secure 6th place. Given that the team has seen major changes to personnel and is still in transition 6th place would be a great achievement.

I agree that on this occasion we need not worry about Rangers conniving in a fix. My point was more one of principle. The games should all be played at the same time. A better example might be if Rangers had to beat Montrose by a 7 goal margin to enable Thistle to get into the top 6. Rangers rush into an 8 goal lead. Not bothering about potential consequences to Thistle, they take off their best players and replace them with untried youngsters just to give them some game time. Montrose hit back to lose only 8-2 and so deny Thistle their top 6 place. A conspiracy theory perhaps, but more believable than some! Fawlty Towers
If we do get the top 6 this season it will help with finances as it is a bit more prize money plus you have 5 home games post split rather than 3 for the bottom teams and these are against the bigger supported teams. The obvious downside is that it will be very tough to pick up many points (likely that if we get to 17 points and 6th place we will be 17 points behind Hibs in 5th place starting the post split fixtures). Fawlty Towers
Just to say that the women's team have also reached the QF of the Scottish Cup and that match takes place on Sunday - we are at home to Rangers. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-fixture/partick-thistle-wfc-v-rangers-wfc-15th-february-2026/ The following weekend is the final league game before the split at home to Accies so 2 big games coming up.

I will not disagree with your assessment of the latter two, though we were running out of fit senior players by that time.
