Looking at tonight's football results on the BBC website this evening, I was surprised to see a result from the Scottish Cup 2nd Preliminary Round.

The First Round draw has already been made and published including a tie involving tonight's winners, Kilwinning Rangers. A check on the SFA website confirms this. Looking at a different page on the SFA site, the Clachnacuddin v Kilwinning Rangers First Round tie was missing from the fixtures. I couldn't find an explanation from the SFA (surprise, surprise) so turned to Wikipedia. In the original Preliminary Round match between Penicuik Athletic and Kilwinning Rangers, Rangers cheated (!) by making 6 substitutions. This resulted in the SFA ordering the match to be replayed. Kilwinning won both the original and replayed matches.

TL;DR Nothing to see here, carry on.

The Bo'ness Festival of Football
Saturday 27 September 2025

If you're not following Thistle in Dunfermline then Newtown Park Bo'ness is the place to be. Two Scottish Cup ties on the same day.

At 2pm Bo'ness United take on Banks O' Dee in the Apostrophe Derby. After a short break for replacement of divots the next tie kicks off at 7pm. Bo'ness Athletic versus Keith. Is this the shortest gap between kick off times at the same ground in the history of the Scottish Cup? Can one man stop the mighty Athletic?

Between games you can enjoy the hospitality of one of Bo'ness' (?) fine hostelries. The Tripadvisor list of top ten places to eat in Bo'ness boasts eighteen entries. On such an historic day it may be advisable to book beforehand to avoid disappointment.

This day will live long. When they ask, "Where were you?", what will you say...?

I have gone for wins for both Bo'ness teams in order to secure as many Bo'ness points as possible.

And if you want to get steaming, there is always the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway Museum.

No disrespect to their opponents but I'm hoping that both Bo'ness teams win through. Really want to see a Bo'ness derby this season. Of course, the usual SFA skullduggery (up ball, down ball) will mean they will be kept apart until the final.

Unfortunately,  plans to visit the museum between games will hit the buffers as last entry that day is 4pm.
