Best wishes to Charlie Fox, that looked a horrible injury and he was clearly in agony.

What happen to Fox?

I see there was an 11 minute stoppage!

Lovely stuff and hope @Camallain packed a spare battery.

Always carry a spare battery however today wasn't a good one for me. A camara problem caused me to miss the first goal and I had left just before the 5th. I'm afraid you are going to have to rely on Jagzone for the 1st & 5th 🙁

Firstly i would like to wish Charlie Fox a speedy recovery. Thistle started the game well and deservedly went ahead with a great strike from Reading. After we scored Queens Park came more into the game without really troubling our defence. Stanway with what turned out to be his last touch of the ball in the game scored another brilliant goal. Second half started with us in control of the game, but Clarke was called into action and pushed a shot over for a corner and from that corner Queens Park hit the crossbar, but that was it from them. Lets'osa's goal was also his last touch in the game. Great way to bounce back after last week's defeat against Raith Rovers.

An impressive performance and a convincing victory - could get used to this. St Mirren must have some outstanding midfielders as  Smyth looks a class above. Lawless & Turner are decent players to bring on as subs but it was positives all round.

Credit to Tony Watt for is reaction to Fox's injury - waving to stop the game even though we were on a good break. Pleased that virtually the entire stadium stood up  to give a sympathetic ovation as Fox was stretchered off. Maybe the injury and the second goal on the stroke of half time knocked the heart out of Queens with saves from Ferrie and the crossbar saving them from a real doing.

Five good goals with Stanway's the pick. The improvement in the side from this time last year is astonishing particularly as we don't have Roberts, Milne, Banzo & Graham.

An excellent victory. After the Ayr player getting a yellow card for coming on to the pitch without permission which was unusual we were treated to a player taking a throw in with one ball whilst the original match ball was still in play! Best wishes to Charlie Fox as well.

As AJ pointed out both Ben and T never kicked the ball again after scoring. Probably been at a match where that has happened twice in a game but certainly can't mind one.

Noticeable increase in pace and intensity from Starks and I suggest these levels today are crucial to results. Absolutely not saying Paddy didn't deserve MotM but I guess if you asked 5 or 6 fans their choice you'd get 5 or 6 different answers. Once again it was a team over individual performance. To say it was a pleasing display is seriously understating things.

Like others hope Charlie Fox is not as badly injured as it appeared and he makes a full recovery asap. Must have also been distressing for parents and young kids down the front of that part of the JHS.

Indeed…. Hopefully we’re saving up our ruthlessness for St Johnstone and beyond….  But can’t complain about 5.0!

Smyth’s long range passing is wonderful and Chalmers fairly terrorises full backs. Currently exceeding my expectations on league position and we’re really good to watch when we play with pace and intensity.

I make it 11 last season, 10 so far this season.

I think that even that 11 may depend on 4 from Scott Robinson, who might be described more as an auxiliary striker rather than one of the midfield 3.

Fantastic goal from Ben Stanway who has perfected the art of the curling shot from the edge of the box. As soon as the ball fell in the right place for him today, there was only going to be one outcome.

It was a good win in the end but I thought in the 2nd half we were playing as if the game was already won. We got a wake up call when they hit the bar.

Yes. Queen's were still in it for most of the second half. However, they seemed visibly to tire as we entered the last 15 minutes.

Said elsewhere it could be a matter of pace. Front three containing Lawless and Watt would be a touch pedestrian. Wee Stevie does deserve a start and Fitzpatrick possibly deserves benching but I feel the pace thingy trumps that

It is certainly an interesting debate. Chalmers on the right wing is brilliant, but on the left wing he is even more brilliant. There is a good argument for saying that Chalmers on the left and Lawless on the right is our most potent combination.

However, I agree with all you say about pace and timing, and how Samuel and Lawless are ideal substitutes for Watt and Fitzpatrick. I do not think that it would work so well the other way round.

great win and performance, total control the whole game. Like others have said, I hope Fox is ok, sitting in the Northy it wasn't clear what happened, I'm relieved to hear it wasn't a head knock or cardiac thing, the way he was slumped on his side I was worried he was unresponsive, Watt and Letsosa looked quite concerned about him.

We were great, without a failure. Clarke only really had one save to make, in first  half, came up to smother someone who was through was a shot and did well. He essentially played the whole game as an spare centre half, I doubt we'll have the stats on this, but I don't recall a game with as many touches from the keeper, particularly in 2nd half (not a criticism, just mean he was regularly involved in passing it around the back)

Oisin Smyth, I say it every week, is an absolute stick out.

I thought Luke McBeth was absolutely brilliant also - for me, Ashcroft does not get back in the team, McBeth is a better all round player, the way he brings the ball out, fizzes passes into the forward players, he's just better than Ashcroft, who I am a fan of, but should be on the bench rest of the season for me.

I know Fitzy is frustrating, I still would persevere with him, yes at present it's not coming off for him, but he always wants the ball, is quick on the break, and I think is a good outball for us down the left, Lawless, as much as i love him, wouldn't scare defenders in behind like Fitzy would. I'd leave the front 3 as it is.

Please for the love of god get Logan Chalmers a lengthy extension!

I reckon the highlighted bit is the only part of your post open to contention. I don't disagree as such and certainly wouldn't want to see Luke dropped for Ashcroft going on yesterday. A few of us were thinking prior to his injury that Lee could do with a rest (probably carrying a knock), so perhaps the timing of the injury is of benefit. As captain he wasn't likely to get dropped and McBeth was likely to be rusty playing in a back two situation. Luckily for him he's now been given match time to get up to speed playing from the back.

I guess we'd both agree that tho' choosing between Ashcroft or McBeth is a problem, it is at least a good problem. With four wingers plus Martin returning and Smyth so effective I'm not sure we'll see us play three at the back again under any normal circumstance. With Martin back Luke is also less likely to get a midfield gig. So it looks like a straight choice, McBeth or Ashcroft. Difficult one methinks especially if the latter comes back fitter tha he was just before his injury.

Based on the two I had the misfortune of sitting in front of yesterday, McBeth is useless, he can't pass, he can't defend, is a bombscare and some expletives thrown in. Incredible negativity from them throughout the half at "our usual tippy tappy pish" with Fitzy, Stanway and McBeth criticised every time they touched the ball. Had to move for second half as couldn't stand listening to them, not sure why people like that go along to games.

Anyway I thought we were brilliant yesterday which McBeth played a good hand in with his piercing forward passes. They don't always come off but they offer us something extra going forward.

Excellent bounce back from last week and makes Friday to be a massive match particularly if the Dunfermline game will be off. St Johnstone are away at Dunfermline then host Queens Park before they come to Firhill.
