Auld Jag
Possibly one for @The Thistle Archive. Was Thistle scoring 11 minutes into injury time in the first half the latest we have ever scored a first half goal ? Although not as late our fifth was also scored in injury time of the second half. The Thistle Archive
We've never seen a Thistle goal as late as the 11th minute of injury time of any half, albeit you'd never rule out the reality vs. what was put in print back in the day, so who knows if there an instance or two lurking somewhere yet unknown. The stopwatch gets reset for the second period, so don't think you'd include big Luke, coming in at 90+2. BBG springs to mind for a 90+7 also against QP in the play-offs at Firhill!

Like others have said, I hope Fox is ok, sitting in the Northy it wasn't clear what happened, I'm relieved to hear it wasn't a head knock or cardiac thing, the way he was slumped on his side I was worried he was unresponsive, Watt and Letsosa looked quite concerned about him. We were great, without a failure. Clarke only really had one save to make, in first half, came up to smother someone who was through was a shot and did well. He essentially played the whole game as an spare centre half, I doubt we'll have the stats on this, but I don't recall a game with as many touches from the keeper, particularly in 2nd half (not a criticism, just mean he was regularly involved in passing it around the back) Oisin Smyth, I say it every week, is an absolute stick out. I thought Luke McBeth was absolutely brilliant also - for me, Ashcroft does not get back in the team, McBeth is a better all round player, the way he brings the ball out, fizzes passes into the forward players, he's just better than Ashcroft, who I am a fan of, but should be on the bench rest of the season for me. I know Fitzy is frustrating, I still would persevere with him, yes at present it's not coming off for him, but he always wants the ball, is quick on the break, and I think is a good outball for us down the left, Lawless, as much as i love him, wouldn't scare defenders in behind like Fitzy would. I'd leave the front 3 as it is. Please for the love of god get Logan Chalmers a lengthy extension! With regards to Clarke, seems to be improving but he needs to cut out this coming 30 yards out of his penalty box to get involved, absolutely no need for it and clever teams are going to catch him out.

When you watch on Jagzone its tough to make out players and properly follow the ball. It really needs improved.

ChiThistle
Question for the tacticians, because I’m slow to notice things: It seems our back 4 becomes a back 3 on offense, with Reading playing more midfield/central. Smyth (sometimes T) picks up that role on the other side. It seems like it makes it easier to advance the ball past midfield, whereas last season the ball went right to Fitzy or Logan. Feels like such a small but impactful change.
partickthedog
I remember that there used to be a "curse of the programme" whereby the person pictured on the front page was injured or dropped or, if playing, put in a disastrous performance. It seems that curse has been lifted as Paddy Reading was on the front of the programme yesterday.
The Thistle Archive
QP archived, take your pick on Stat of the Week! Thistle 5 Queen's Park 0 → A TEAM GAME ● Paddy Reading scores his first Firhill goal, and it's a screamer. ● Ben Stanway scores at the John Lambie end for the first time, and it's also a screamer. We've never seen a Thistle goal as late as the 11th minute of injury time! ● Logan Chalmers nets his 8th of the season in all comps, already going one better than his 2024-25 tally. ● 3 players (Stanway/Chalmers/Letsosa) registered today in both the goals and assists columns, jointly the highest number since our records began in 2012. Two previous sets of three were recorded by Lawless/Erskine/Doolan in March 2013 and Graham/Rudden/Tiffoney in October 2021 ● Luke McBeth becomes the 14th Jag to score in competitive action this season. The club-record spread (21) was set in 2018-19. ● It was formerly rare, but 5 different Thistle scorers has been relatively common in recent years; we last seen as many (6) on 20th July 2024 ● Having 5 different Thistle players registering assists matches the highest tally since records began in 2012. Such a figure has only been seen twice before; on 23rd March 2013 & 14th August 2018. ● Jags have lost only 2 league games at Firhill in over 18 months, a 29 game run. ● Hearts, Celtic & St Johnstone stand with Thistle as the last clubs with unbeaten home records in this season's SPFL. ● Jags have won 16 (SIXTEEN) of the 17 competitive home matches versus the Spiders, 1983 to date. Two of the runs of eight (1983-2020 & 2023-2025) now share the H2H record. It's 69 years since a home draw! ongoing sequences: ● 8 home League games without defeat; 25th Apr 2025 to date. (Longest run since: 14 games; 16th Mar 2024 to 28th Dec 2024. Joint club-record: 23 games; 27th Aug 1910 to 14th Oct 1911 & 29th Aug 1970 to 6th Nov 1971.) ● 32 consecutive competitive appearances for Aidan Fitzpatrick, 11th Mar 2025 to date. (Longest run since: Robbie Crawford - 51 games, 14th Sep 2024 to 4th Oct 2025. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.) 3

Goal in the fog v Raith a couple of years ago must've 90+5. lady-isobel-barnett
Not measurable as a stat but I'm certain I've never been at a game where the fog was so bad for its entirety. At no time did it warrant being called off under the rules. The rules of course don't consider whether the spectators can see what's going on*. I sit well to the City side of the JHS and couldn't see McIver's assist to Turner even tho' he was yards from the goalmouth. *on this subject that night in Cowdenbeath was totally daft for the fans. Given the racetrack with its fencing you can be some distance from play. There was a lengthy period when I assume the game could still be legitimately played and the fans could see heehaw. Photo below was taken well before game called off!

Feels like such a small but impactful change. It is essentially the inverted full back that Mark introduced early doors with some variations. Aa you say opens up another channel for getting the ball forward without having to go long. It is a very dynamic lineup this season with a lot of changes throughout the game and the players picking things up from the training ground and putting them to good effect in a game situation. Reading's goal being the latest example.
King Kenny
Easy to say after a 5-0 win but it was another enjoyable afternoon at Firhill. I think the Morton game aside, every home game has been night and day to what was on show last season. Granted Queens were poor but some of our play in the second half was great to watch. I've lost count of the number of times it's been very noticeable the number of players bursting a gut to get in the box, no wonder we're converting so many of the chances from crosses. Plenty to choose from but I thought McBeth had a great game. He seemed to struggle early on with a couple of knocks but grew in to the game, his breaking of the lines via either his passing or dribbling is a big asset. Who knows where the season will take us but it's been nice to watch an entertaining team at Firhill again, both the players and fans seem to be enjoying it.

Great when it come off but gives me the fear. To often it breaks down and we're getting countered with a big McBeth shaped hole in the centre of defence. Better teams than QP will rip us apart with this dribbling out of defence approach.
