Sorry to see Falconer as a sub and not starting as per last week.  Perhaps the result at Arbroath has sharpened Wilson's approach and reduced his risk taking.  Anyone gone up for the game?

No.. after our 6 hours drive last week, it was a long way to go for a fish supper, gonna listen on Jagzone..

Just in. First half was a decent performance, despite a slow start and losing an early goal to their wide right player Emslie, who was a threat throughout. We created numerous chances and were thwarted by a combination of bad luck and good defending. Looked like it could be one of these nights, but then Turner and Samuel struck to put us ahead. Thereafter all seemed quite comfortable up to halftime and the only question was how much we could win by.

Second half was very scrappy. We could not seem to get going at all and some careless concessions of possession gave us some anxious moments. In the end relieved to hear the final whistle and get back down the road.

As regards individual players, O'Reilly was commanding in defence and Reading was his normal sound self both going back and going forward. Chalmers and Stanway were effective in the first half but much less influential in the second. Turner took his goal well, but otherwise was rather too eager to play the ball backwards rather than forwards. Lawless was again disappointing when played from the start (so much better when coming on from the bench), but he did almost score with a header!

Although it was very cold, at least it was not windy, and therefore a proper game of football could be played.

I happen to know the Dumbarton FC chaplain, and I was in touch before the game, hoping that both our teams could do the business and meet each other in the next round. He mentioned that after a fine win over East Kilbride at the weekend, the players had rather gone overboard with their celebrations in their subsequent Christmas outing (to England) and he was concerned that they might not have recovered in time to be at their best tonight (ie now last night). Looks like he was right...
