Here on the forum we can highlight some bits n bobs from time to time, always good to get chip-ins and recollections from the forumites. And we'll take requests if you want us to add some more match hub cuttings for your birthday match!

On this night 1989, a real classic at the home of the 1987 Scottish Cup winners. A packed match hub is uploaded today to celebrate... 👀

On this day 1964, Jags derail the title bid of the league leaders in front of 18,165 at the Stadium of Dreams. In this pic, Hainey's 14th minute rocket shot whizzes past the desperately reaching hand of keeper Campbell Forsyth and the outstretched foot of right-back Andy King. 'Scrapbook' tab extended; 'Gallery' tab introduced...

Stayed in Paisley in those days. Walked to the game, floated on cloud 9 on the way home. :D :fan:

Hard now to believe we were such underdogs, but Thistle had been in the wilderness for such a long time and had achieved virtually nothing in almost a decade. It was my early days of supporting the Jags and the idea of us beating a Premier League team was mind blowing. Growing up in Barrhead and going to school with St Mirren fans made it even better!

I can still name virtually every player, but the guy with his shirt off is stumping me. Anyone know?

On this night 2016, an oh-so-sweet last-minute winner, STEVEN LAWLESS the man. 2,000 yellow cards handed out to the fans and, not to be outdone, STUART BANNIGAN got his straight from the ref!

I will never forget that night. I will try to condense the story.

At that time I worked in an office in Glasgow City Centre. To save money on parking, I usually left my car in the morning at the nearest place you could do so for free, which was then in Port Dundas, and did a 20 minute walk into the office. With this being an evening game at Firhill, my car was handily placed to recover it after work before heading to the game.

Arrived at the car at around 7.25pm to realise that I had left both my car keys and my office keys in the office (a colleague was working on for a short time, so I did not have to lock the office, which would have reminded me). Thought I was bound to miss a huge chunk of the game when it dawned on me that Port Dundas was linked to Firhill by the canal. So i dashed down the canal in the dark at a decent pace and got to the game in time. Phoned my colleague at half-time and arranged to get a taxi to their place after the match to pick up a set of office keys.

Stevie Lawless' late goal made it all worthwhile. Taxi journey to colleague's house on south side of Glasgow and then back to the office to liberate the car keys so that I could walk back to recover the car and drive home. A long and crazy night, but definitely worth it!

It's not exactly "on this day" but with the cup weekend coming up, I thought I'd post a couple of final scores from the 71 and 76 third round.  I follow a facebook account "football in the good old days" where they post scores and attendances around the UK in various eras.  Some interesting scores and attendances.  Having read quite a lot of these posts, I feel that our attendances have unfortunately suffered more than most other clubs in the top flight over the decades. While there seems to be a fairly recent uptick at Falkirk, Motherwell, Dunfermline and other similar clubs,  we seem to be in a bracket of clubs that have declined more substantially, but not as bad as clubs like Dumbarton, Albion Rovers, East Fife, Clyde and others that have completely fallen away.  The advent of the premier league and the reconstruction of the leagues has enriched the top and left behind the bottom.  Despite this polarisation, and capacity crowds at all old firm home games, our clubs have struggled to make any European impact in quite a while.

Did Ayr have a big support back in those days?

Big crowd at home in 76 and also away to Morton in 71, with the Morton crowd in 76 being much smaller. Therefor making a big assumption that there were a few Ayr fans in 71.

On this night 2002, the "Dundee Derry Boys" are out-sung, their team out-played, as Lambie's upstarts continue to plot their way to Hampden... can we do it again in our 150th anniversary year?

What a night! Think it is probably best ever I have been witness to, if you combine the two elements of atmosphere and achievement (that was a very strong, and expensive, Dundee side).

Uncanny parallels with this coming Saturday! On this day 2007, a rare visit to Princess Royal Park as Deveronvale and Partick Thistle battle it out for a place in the Scottish Cup Quarter Finals...

Today there was also a one goal winning margin. Lets see who we get in the 1/4 finals. We lost the 2007 1/4 final, 2-0 away to Dunfermline.
