Oh Valencia - forever ensconced in Partick Thistle folklore. It was indeed 150 years ago today that our first known match was played. Happy anniversary to all Jagskind!

Looks like red and yellow was enshrined in our history right from the first kick off.

On this day 1976, the 100th anniversary game of the PTFC is marked with a league title! Jags needed a point at East End Park but wrapped it up in some style to become centenary year champions - how about that?! 'Scrapbook' tab extended; 'Gallery' tab introduced...

Sat-21-Feb-1976 Dunfermline Athletic 0 Partick Thistle 3 (SFL First Division - game 25) →

Willie Miller a linesman in that game, he soon went on to referee a number of games (while playing for Aberdeen). :D

Did they only play 26 games that season?

Yes. 1st season of the Premier League with 10 teams.

1st & 2nd div had 14 teams, played each other twice. After the league finished they had a tournament call the Spring Cup which was sections then knockout iirc. Clydebank played Airdrie in the final at Firhill. I went to the game. Davie Cooper star man for Bankies but Airdrie won.

I think the following season or soon after they changed to 39 games, played each other 3 times

On this day 80 years ago Jackie Campbell was born.

Happy Birthday to the Great Man 👍

Whilst his main role was always stopping opposition goals I feel privileged to have witnessed his only Thistle goal in a remarkable match at Muirton - a sunny August day in 1975 I think.

@RabTheJag (Robert jnr) meets Lee Ashcroft at wheelchair football.

28/02/2026 @Auld Jag (Robert snr) meets Lee Ashcroft in hospitality. I got a chance to speak to Lee today. He remembered coming to the wheelchair football, didn't realise that it was 10 years ago. He was sorry to hear that Robert was no longer with us and thanked me for taking time to talk to him. What a great guy he is.

I saw in the programme yesterday that he will be doing some coaching with the academy next season as well.

Missed this by a day but yesterday was the 20th anniversary of the Dave the Ukrainian Game at the Recs. Not having been at our recent match at Hamilton yon night in Alloa was the coldest I've ever felt at a game.

Dave's contribution to the night was taking a free kick and getting himself booked for a rugby tackle on an Alloa player. A rather strange thing to do, tho' very brave given the rock hard pitch. Unsurprisingly he never made it out for the 2nd half.

Any other recollections of that night or did I just dream it?

It was definitely the coldest night in the history of the world. Even the woolly mammoths roaming the streets of Alloa were wearing extra jumpers. I think that it shaded Hamilton on the Antarctic spectrum, possibly because at least at Hamilton we were warmed by an exciting fightback and Ben Stanway's epic goal. Stephen McConalogue bringing the score back to 1-2 did not even qualify as a damp squib, as any ounce of moisture in a squib froze instantly.
