The Thistle Archive
Someone on X has posted a photo from the Forest game, but no caption or source provided. They are the team with the square badge, but what on earth is that strip Thistle are wearing? Is that Donnie McKinnon looking on? Anyone recognise the Jag at the forefront?
Jaggernaut
Definitely McKinnon. Tommy Ewing further back, to our left of Donnie. Not sure of the other Jag, but doesn't look like Muir. Maybe Charlie West? ETA: Changed my mind; I think it probably is Muir, rather than West! Edited March 29 by Jaggernaut
a f kincaid
It's funny how over the years you still retain a picture of the former players - but frozen in time. I usually follow my instinct in these identification puzzles but this time it's not worked. Agree with Tommy Ewing and Donnie McKinnon but the other two, who knows?. I don't think the fella going for the ball or the other one on the right are West or Muir - so much so I wonder if Thistle tried some subs and they went unrecorded. Strip looks as if they bought it in a market on the way to the ground. Wee Tommy doesn't even look like he's got a badge. The match programme says red and yellow hoops and white shorts. Clearly a change for some reason. Pure speculation...the ref objected to a colour clash with Forests' red jerseys and the club loaned them a (non red) strip???
