The handsome JOHN BLACKWOOD was the greatest loanee in PTFC history, with an astonishing 29 goals in 4 months. On this day 1900, his hat-trick at Hamilton won a second league title for the Jags. 1,500 away support, incredible for the era! Willie Paul scored too, obvs... 👀

Exactly 9 years ago... April Dools Day! KRIS DOOLAN became just the 9th man to score 100 competitive goals for Partick Thistle - the first new addition to the club since Davie McParland more than 50 years earlier. The goal put him #1 in terms of league goals scored (91).

He was wearing a Jags scarf, but I've never heard anything about him actually being a supporter, or having been seen at Firhill. My guess is that he went along for the occasion with friends that day.

Greg Hemphill did the commentary for the DVD (or was it then a video?) of Thistle winning the First Division (ie then second tier) in season 2001-2002. No idea if he is a Thistle fan, but you would think that he must at least have had some positive connection to be asked to do that.

9 games in a month hadn't been seen since the "Big Freeze" of early 1963, and 3rd tier Thistle had it all to do in April 2021. On this night 2021, miles off leaders Falkirk and 2 down at Bayview with 20 to play, the odds were long for a title win... but there the great fight back began...

On this night 1974, back-to-back Firhill wins over Celtic & Aberdeen completed, 2-0 each. 3rd top Aberdeen hadn't lost a goal in nearly 14 hours! RONNIE GLAVIN (in off the post) here seals their fate in the last minute... a standing ovation from the faithful...

On this night '48, Thistle v St Mirren switched to Friday, avoiding Scotland v England. The ten-man Jags secure 3rd in DAVIE MEIKLEJOHN's first season. There would be several Top 6 finishes and cup finals in the big man's era, legend!
