Surprised at how high Dick Campbell is and how low Bertie Auld is.

Not wanting in any way to defend Dick Campbell, but his reputation suffered disproportionately due to some dreadful high scoring defeats at home. Most of our best performances and results were away from home (the play off ties v Stranraer and Peterhead being obvious examples of games we lost at home but won away).

6 consecutive competitive away wins (15.04.2006 to 08.08.2006) remains the all-time club-record. Awkward!

Really meant phrase that as it would be interesting to see how Lambie fared in his 3 spells.

On each manager's individual page, we have 'Summary' tabs where you can see several comparison tables for all the managers (albetit they're only updated annually). One of these tables breaks down the managers by individual spell:

John Lambie →

Scot Symon... a disastrous tragedy for Thistle that should have been avoided much much earlier.

I suppose if you take the "every cloud..." view of things, the disaster actually gave us the wonderful Dave McParland: from the very worst to the very best in that table.

No, he never made an impact with Thistle. Moved "upstairs", if I recall, to be General Manager or some such. He was once sacked by Rangers while they were top of the league wasn't he?

At Rangers Symon was always considered a "manager" rather than a "head coach". A poor man's Matt Busby if you like. If he knew what was coming when he moved upstairs he could've called himself some sort of "Director of Football" and had Davie McP named "Head Coach". Can't mind if Symon stuck around but perhaps his tenure at Firhill would be considered kinder in some way after our League Cup win. It would still have been unwarranted credit, but credit all the same.

I am hoping that Wilson's 50th competitive game in charge in how own right will be a sunny day in late May at Hampden!

Pick up enough points in the remaining 12 league games to finish 1st and not need the playoffs plus the quarter and semi final games in the Scottish Cup - has a neatness to it which appeals to me.

I read in a biography that Symon was depressed, and simply no longer interested in football after being shown the door at Ibrox. It was almost as if he was the automatic replacement for Willie Thornton, who left us to go back to his beloved Ibrox. But it was a terrible appointment; it soon started appearing to me that he was getting money for doing SFA at Firhill,. I think many supporters who were around then would agree, looking back on the absolutely dreadful results and performances. Although I was sad when McParland stopped playing, I was genuinely over the moon when he took over as manager.

I make it that last evening was Wilson's 50th competitive match in charge in his own right and his record is

27 wins, 16 draws & 7 defeats

Hopefully by the time it is 52 games the wins are at 29.

28 wins, 17 draws & 7 defeats would also do.Ā

League One ( or old second division ) vs Premier League under BertieĀ

Indeed, and even at Championship (old First Division) level, Dick Campbell had some devastating defeats at Firhill, shipping 4 to Clyde, 5 to St Johnstone and 6 to Gretna which made his record feel much worse than the "win/draw/loss" record might suggest.
