Smyth n Stanway in the middle, Reading n McPherson out wide. Chalmers n Aidan on the bench ? Is 3-5-2 away from home and 4-3-3 at home plausible? St J playing on the Friday so at least we know what is required. If we serious about winning the league then 3 points is a must. I won’t b too disappointed if we just don’t lose this game. Usually I would say 3-5-2 on a bigger grass pitch like East End Pk might be playing a wee bit narrow, and maybe an exception to that rule. However we seem to still manage to get width out of that formation, and besides there's serious questions about the state of the pitch. There's nothing to stop us us starting 3-5-2 and making changes if/when necessary. Besides Chalmers is, and Fitzpatrick can be, effective impact subs. Wilson and Rae far often than not get their in-game changes spot on. Normally speaking, even for eventual league winners, an away point at Dunfermline would be more than tolerable. That tho' would hardly help close the gap on St J (assuming they don't lose to Airdrie). I think if we defend well we can still play canny with a 3-5-2 and scrape a win. partickthedog Posted February 14 Report Share Posted February 14 I may be going slightly against the prevailing mood here, but on a big pitch I would like to see us go back to our original favoured 4-3-3 and play something like Clarke McPherson Ashcroft O’Reilly Reading Smyth Crawford/Lets’osa Stanway Chalmers Watt Fitzpatrick Mark Wilson can choose between Crawford and Lets’osa. Either is fine by me. Incredibly harsh on Samuel not to start, but he can come on early and make an impact from the bench. Fitzpatrick and Chalmers both have a good scoring record against Dunfermline. I feel that both have been lightly raced over the past few weeks for various reasons and will be full of energy and motivation and ready to go.
