CotterJag
Not the best game but a great win. We can still win the league but being far enough of 3rd with a game or two to go, could be important, as we can rest some players for the play-offs. Our squad is so light that I can't believe we still have a chance at this stage. Get to within two points by next Tuesday and it's game on. How many cliches can I get in one post? I nearly deleted it.

I think that dreadful is harsh but I would agree with dreadfully frustrating. He works so hard and often ends up with the ball in good positions but cannot make it count, whether with a poor touch or a wrong option or conceding possession too easily. Hopefully something will click for him soon and get his confidence and clinicality (if that is a word) back up, because I still think that he has a lot to offer. Great win after such a substandard second half showing from us. We seem to be losing too many players to injury. However, as long as Stanway and Samuel stay fit, we have a chance. King Kenny
I assume we can’t recall Martin? If not, it might be worth putting McBeth in that midfield role. It’s not his strongest position but he’s shown at times he can be excellent in there, Ross County away for example. It would also allow Stanway to move up where he has more impact. Fitzpatrick really needs to step up now. Took his man on once tonight, before that it was either pass it back or hit dreadful crosses in to the nobody. Somebody needs to have a word with Diack, he’s currently looking like a cart horse. Lumbers about, awful first touch and never on his toes. Attitude needs serious improvement
Albert's Ghost
It's ages since either Crawford or Tee contributed either a goal or an assist. Both started the season brightly then turned to dross. Not good enough.
Yellow & Redneck
I honestly thought that the Ashcroft contract extension was quite premature. From the Elgin game onwards, his form has fallen off a cliff. He was never a quick player, but in the last six months he has become noticeably more laborious and slow, often leading to him being caught out of position. I suppose he is a great character to have in the dressing room, but I'm hoping that guys like Loughery kick on and can give some serious competition. Watching the game back this morning, it's also clear that Crawford hasn't come back the same player since his injury at the start of the season. Started the league campaign really brightly, but now just seem to be..."there." A bit like Bryan Hodge but without the odd spectacular goal. Going to be such a tough end to the season. I think in hindsight, even the decision to let go of Lawless without a replacement seems absolutely crazy. Dan MacKay is made of breadsticks, so was never coming back this season. And if Watt has indeed done his hammy, we will need some absolute magic from Wilson & Co to find a free agent. Been a season that has far exceeded my expectations. It would just be heartbreaking if it came unwound now due to a string of unlucky injuries (and some poor squad planning). jagfox
Always good to beat this mob. We lack a fair bit of creativity with Logan injured and as seen last night Fitzy gets some close attention from the opposing defenders. He drew at least three fouls and a yellow card. Ben Stanway has had to shift back a bit with Smyth out. We could really do with more from Lets'osa and Crawford on the ball. The team keeps giving its all and the effort and determination is summed up by Alex Samuel. Who'd have thought our faint title chances are resting on his shoulders ( and goals)? Hopefully Watt isn't out long as Diack has shown nothing in his admittedly brief cameos since returning from Kelty. If Paddy Reading is out too we are getting back to the bare bones situation of last season, with little scope for change from the bench. We couod probably do with Scott Martin right now but the decision to loan him and the reasons behind it were pretty clearly laid out by Wilson at the time.

With not so many games left maybe a chance for a free agent to put themselves in the shop window and help us out too.
jaggy
A few have mentioned free agents but who is realistically available in that market at this time of year? Last year we got Jakubiak and a defender (Kelly?) who looked a good player but was clearly unfit
Albert's Ghost
I'd take Jakubiak again! Hampden hero.

Our game against them a couple of weeks ago was one of if not the worst game i have seen this season, even when they had 11 against our 10 they did not bust a gut to try and win the game. I watched the Montrose Alloa game on Alba tonight and what a game that was. Alloa took a 2-0 lead, got pegged back to 2-2 by half time, Montrose went 5-2 up only for the game to end 5-4. Blair Lyons was motm.
Auld Jag
That was a very good 3 points last night. That is 4 games we have played Morton this season and they have taken the lead in all 4. They have only managed 2 draws and in 3 of the 4 games we have scored goals in either the 89th minute or later to get 1 draw and 2 victories. Alex Samuel has been an inspired signing even when he doesn't score he keeps the defenders occupied for the full time he is on the park and he took his goal really well last night. Also a mention for Ethan Ingram, that was a brilliant block after Ashcroft slipped/pulled up. Injuries and suspensions now becoming a concern. We need players like Turner and Fitzpatrick, who have shown in the past what they can do to get back to a better level and also Crawford and Lets'osa to get back to the form they showed earlier in the season.

exiledjag
To be frank I don't recall agreeing with the pre and early season comments that we would be playing around the lower reaches of the championship.⁵ Although I didn't think we would be involved in relegation battles I didn't think we would be near a top 4 position far less challenging for the title either. The appointments of Wilson and then Rae has been excellent, in fact, a couple of masterstrokes which would have been even better if we had the money to beef up the squad both in terms of numbers and quality. I think with injuries starting to impact of the team now is the time to be realistic. I believe talk of winning the title is wide of the mark given the condition of the playing squad. I have said before and Ithink it's still accurate that as a Championship winning team St Johnstone are the real deal with a good first 11 and real depth and quality on the bench. The Jags on the other hand are still work in progress and with injuries our bench by comparison will look very weak. We might beat SJ when they come to Firhill but does anyone honestly feel/think we can win this League? I think our objective should be to secure 2nd place and hope that Ayr (only because we seem to be able to win play-off games against them) can catch either Arbroath or Dunfermline. Realistically probably the latter. If we secure second place we have a good chance of promotion via the play-off route plus getting some decent prize money.

In saying that I have to admit that anytime he got a game from the bench he failed to make any real impression. So perhaps Montrose is his level. They have a spoiling game that is tough to breakdown, and our record at their place is terrible.

In theory, having the second leg at home should give us the opportunity to repair any storm damage from the first leg. However, our home record against Arbroath is not that great either, and even at Firhill they seem to take the wind from our sails.
sandy
Although it’s unlikely we will catch St Johnstone, I must admit second place is above my expectations at the start of the season with a restricted budget. Well done Mark & Alex
thornwoodjag
Well we can’t finish lower than 7th now. So beats my prediction at start of season. Possibly our last visit to Greenock for a while.
