Jaggernaut
Question: Does anybody actually believe that we will win promotion through the play-offs? Not we could win promotion, but we will win promotion. I wish I could be in the will frame of mind, but..... well, I guess it will be all the sweeter if (when?) we do! Trying to look at this objectively, i would assess that we have a two-thirds chance of winning the first play off, and thereafter a one-third chance of winning the final play off. If my vulgar fractions are correct, that would give us overall a two-ninths chance, ie just over 22%. Having said that, throwing all objectivity out of the window and with no intelligent data on which to base this, having a naturally positive and optimistic outlook, I would assess our chances as much better than that! Does that help (or otherwise) your frame of mind!?
thornwoodjag
No D O R, wee T or Ben McPherson. Will b surprised if we see, Reading, Ashcroft, Stanway, Fitzpatrick or Samuel. Smyth, Watt n Chalmers probably need the minutes. Is there any point in risking Clarke?

A couple from BBC Sports have voiced their opinions favouring the Championship side over whoever lands 2nd bottom in the top tier. Can't say I'm over confident myself but believe we've got the players capable of doing the business. More so than in previous years.

I don't have an opinion on preferred opponents. Question mark noted. I think if we play Arbroath this is how it will go. Arbroath will win the first leg by the odd goal and in the process their two central defenders will kick Watt and Samuel off the park and the Ref will do nothing. 2nd leg at Firhill Arbroath will come to defend their lead and hope to catch us on the counter. Their two central defenders will again commit about 20 fouls between them all of which the Ref will not see. Arbroath might sneak a breakaway goal but my money will be on a 0-0 draw. The Ref will red card one of the Arbroath central defenders in the 95th minute so that he can say he did take action@ Cynical or what! I just think Dunfermline will play/focus on football in both games and try to win them. That's why they sre my preference!
Dick Dastardly
It is a long time since there was a Thistle game where I really didn’t care about the result. Yes it would be nice to win, but more important is no injuries and no cards.

It occurs to me tho' that a win for us today would ensure Arbroath's following game against Dunfermline is meaningful. Insomuch as third place would still be up for grabs. Thinking that a bloodbath would be on the cards as both teams wrestle for third place dosh is way too optimistic. Thinking that they might not rest key players and play out a tiring competitive match perhaps less so.

Yes I believe we can win promotion via the play-off system. Whether we are ready for promotion is another matter! 17 hours ago, Albert's Ghost said: More importantly - we won't be running on fumes this time round. We do however need impartial officials, in particular VAR Officials, something we didn't get at Ross Co. and more recently Paisley!
Jaggernaut
Wow, now half-time and I've just seen the starting line-up..... had no idea that Crawford was playing, and never heard his name mentioned once by the commentators! Pretty dire stuff, and can't blame the wind, as there isnae any.
Dick Dastardly
Predictable, but no cards and no injuries, so good outcome. Morton getting sucked into the mire at the other end

To be fair, Crawford is never likely to be effective when our main objective was to take it easy and ensure no suspensions or injuries. Jaggernaut
0-0 Keech performance. Pure keech. The worst of the tippy-tappy sh*te, and several occasions when we were half-way into Arbroath's half and the lazy I'll-turn-back-and-pass-it-back happened, so we ended up nearer our own goal and under pressure. There's a definite mentality about slowing the game down that permeates throughout the whole team. Toxic to watch, and means that we are too often too easy to defend against. In fact little defence is required, just press us and we pass back. Our throw-ins... honestly, they are an embarrassment to professional football. We lose possession from them four times out of every five, at a guess. And as for first touches/receiving a pass, cringeworthy! Chalmers , Turner, Taylor, Ingram... seem incapable of simply stopping the ball or cushioning it to keep it under control. Taking the ball off them was like the easiest job Arbroath players will ever have.

I would suggest that we are therefore not particularly easy to defend against. I’m not sure how you can be that bothered by an absolute dead rubber which was nailed on to be nil all

I must opt for uncle Roy to accept his medicine I'm in absolutely no doubt ........it's Ross County for me Roy McG and all. Also would like Airdrie and Morton to stay up but being forced into a choice here. I think Stenhousemuir deserve some reward for the progress they have made over the past couple of seasons so perhaps Airdrie should be given the chance to regroup in League 1. I have no particular issue with Airdrie other than they give us more problems than Morton and the latter is my dear departed father's team so a sentimental motive. In closing, should we not be focusing discussion on who we might play in the play off final - Kilmarnock, St Mirren or Dundee.
