Albert's Ghost
If Luke is to be released, then we must have a solid backup for Ashy lined up. Someone better than Luke.
King Kenny
I’m surprised we’re letting him go unless he’s indicated he’d like the move to get more game time. I like him as a player, not sure I agree with the comment that he’s a hit it and hope kind of player. I think we’ll need a good backup/potential starter for Ashcroft this year anyway, he was struggling at times last year.

Fourth choice CB so if it frees up space for something better then good luck to Luke at Ayr. He’s back up for Ashcroft, I would say. Don’t see the logic in offloading him, unless we have someone else lined up.

chunky jag
Dont get the decision to move McBeth, if we do. Solid back up at cb and cdm, i really like him, never lets us down, seems like a good character too.

Agreed, whether at defense mid, or centre back he generally looks to try to walk the ball forwards as he looks for a pass to make

It's a good indication of our strength when he's on the bench.
Camallain
I thought McBeth was one of our best players against Pollok. Strange decision to offload him if true.
lady-isobel-barnett
Can't see how you can let Luke go without bringing in a centreback who can play in defensive mid or vice versa. The other route involves two signings to replace one player.
Yellow & Redneck
Would be very disappointed to lose McBeth. Think he is genuinely strong bringing the ball out from the back. Those long strides are McTominay-esq. Not the most technical player, but would be hard to find a like for like replacement.
Fawlty Towers
I think McBeth suffers like Zander MacKenzie did, OK in a couple of positions but not good enough in either to be first choice. He has an excellent attitude as well. Given that Wilson has said how important he thinks continuity is I think it could be McBeth that has approached him with a view to going to get more game time but it will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks as I think Wilson wants the vast majority of the squad in place for the league campaign starting with maybe a space left so we can add if necessary before the window ends. thornwoodjag
Not a rumour unfortunately. Always thought Luke was an adequate replacement. Understandable that he wants more minutes. Good luck to him !

However, football goes on and it will be interesting to see how Wilson decides to fill the gap. Also, if it is the case that McPherson can't sign until his Celtic contract ends we should (hopefully) see something happen in a few days time. Auld Jag
Sorry to see McBeth go. He wanted to go forward with the ball, he did have a few slack moments but overall was a good signing for us imo. Not surprised he has gone as last season he played less than in previous seasons.
Fawlty Towers
In his interview with Ayr he says that it has been ongoing for a couple of weeks so hopefully we will have been working on a replacement (or two) and can move on that quickly. Need to get the 👀 going again!
thornwoodjag
Hopefully we get some clarification about Clarke n McPherson today. Also, I see Fraser Taylor signed two year dal with St Mirren. Maybe he’ll go out on loan again.

I think with regards to Taylor that St Mirren seem be going down a different route to the one under Robinson and the head coach would have seen him in his role as youth coach so not sure he will go out on loan at start of season, maybe in January if out of team. I think there is still at least one space to fill in central midfield which might be the trialist or Stanway if at all possible. Depends on budget I suppose if there is room for one more now McBeth has gone.
ThickAsThieves
From The Thistle: Wilson explained why the likes of Josh Clarke, Ben McPherson and Alex Samuel were not included in the matchday squad – and confirmed that Stanway will not remain at Firhill for the upcoming campaign. “Josh has an extended rest because he was on international duty when we were on holiday,” Wilson said. AlgarveJag
So Stanners finally confirmed but if Josh is ‘just resting’ why are he and Ben M. not listed on the updated First Team page of the website? Ben D., Seb and Euan are there While I’m on it, no bios for the coaching staff who are listed as ‘Managers’.
