Aliballibee
This might be an impossible question to answer but here goes. I currently pay monthly to TJF at an annual cost of £240. I've never been a Season Ticket holder but considering it for next season (Adult - £330), now my Saturday's are pretty much free. Based on I can't continue to contribute to both, what payment option is likely to be most beneficial to Thistle? Thanks

Fawlty Towers
The season ticket money helps the club in terms of knowing what it has to spend at the start of the season whilst the TJF money comes in each month over the season. If you bought a season ticket and stopped the TJF membership, TJF could still make their monthly pledges but what you might find with the season ticket is that with games moved to Friday nights for TV and maybe a few rearrangemements if we progress in the cups that it might not be as cost effective for you personally if you can't make those games. It is a tough one and it probably comes down to what suits you on an individual basis but either way you are helping the club.

lady-isobel-barnett
1 hour ago, Lenziejag said: Do you manage to go to any home league games ? Aye, it's purely dependent on the number of home games a fan is likely to attend. For instance in retrospect in any season the Club would've been better off if I hadn't been an ST holder. Unfortunately I was limited in attending home games due to carer duties, which I no longer have on a Saturday. I tended to go to mid-week / Friday nights when able to go along. I kind of thought that if I bought the ST it was i) providing a little more cash ii) more incentive to get along to games (I live in Penicuik). Based on I can't continue to contribute to both, what payment option is likely to be most beneficial to Thistle? Thanks I would say short answer is the season ticket. 1) £330 is obviously greater than £240 (assuming your contribution stayed the same if you didn’t go the season ticket route) 2) Beyond that, the club could theoretically invest your £330 received upfront and have a larger return after 12 months. (The general principle of money received now is worth more than the same amount received in the future and inflation and all that). That’s not to belittle the TJF contribution though by any means - the “drip feed” provides an important, predictable source of cash. 3) Even if we assume season ticket money is being utilised immediately and not invested, it’s still beneficial because it’s going toward the player budget. And that’s time sensitive. All in all, I think you’re an awesome supporter for even considering which would be of more benefit to Thistle. We’d never ask this in American sport in a million years. I’d say you should choose whichever option is best for YOU though - your support to the club is valuable no matter which type you choose. -L

Based on I can't continue to contribute to both, what payment option is likely to be most beneficial to Thistle? Thanks Entirely up to you. Firstly, thank you for contributing to TJF over and above the General rate. Almost 250 of our members do this, and it makes a huge difference. Secondly, you can remain a TJF member from as little as £1 per month, on the Basic rate, though we would encourage those who are able to contribute at either the General (£10pm) or Concessionary (£5pm) rate. Purely on the question of most beneficial... A season ticket is of course subject to VAT, so the Club gets £275 of your season ticket (before payment processing fees) and the tax man £55. TJF gets 100% of your monthly subs (before payment processing fees). We have (very modest) running costs, but the overwhelming majority (over 90%) of our membership income finds its way back to the Club, Academy or Women's team through the pledges.
Aliballibee
Thanks to everyone who responded to my initial question. Current thinking is I'll stay with my TJF membership and attend more games as a "pay as you go" supporter. A ST would probably mean going to more games solo, as my group of friends who attend matches do so on an irregular basis. I'd rather go in that group and enjoy the company rather than just attend matches because of the ST. I'll just try to persuade some of them to go more regularly. Cheers Edited Wednesday at 02:39 PM by Aliballibee Correction

Norgethistle
Both monies go to the club less deductions (VAT & Card charges for club) (Charges for TJF) whilst the ST money goes in upfront, the TJF money is part of a budgeted and guaranteed payment to club (subject to AGM next week) which allows club to budget throughout the year, the £12,500 monthly payment to club helps aid cash flow between start of season (ST sales & sponsorship) and end of season (prize money), both ST money and TJF money are important to club. TJF membership also gives you a voice, a vote and allows you to help shape the future of club via its fan ownership model. I’d encourage you to stay even if dropping your input to buy a ST. Also club are offering payment plans via Klarna if that helps
