It's pretty common to look at a game and see every single player either standing still or moving at walking speed. Then the game might fly into life briefly, only to revert again to a snails pace. It really reminds me of basketball, where each team cedes possession, falls back, and their opponent slowly probes for a way to get 'in' at them repeatedly. Then you add in VAR delays, play-acting, and the hyper-commercialisation.... Not for me. EPL, UCL... give me PTFC any day. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tho' they do try, countries can't really influence who plays for them. That means that with eventual winners you can't say with their financial backing it's hardly a surprise they won. I had planned to use redundancy money to actually go to the states, but cancelled plans as soon as I realised the complete rip off and money grabbing policy from FIFA. jagfox Posted June 14 Report Share Posted June 14 I luckily missed my 1 am alarm after getting to bed after the first-half of the Brazil vs Morocco match. I watched the highlights and I am unsure where the BBC managed to find 8 minutes worth. Woke up to the raw facts we are top of the group and achieved a vital win. This should see us through and any further points harvested from Morocco or Brazil will help that. The draw in the other group game means we are unlikely to see a dead rubber situation in our final group game. Morocco looked very good, Brazil looked very ordinary apart of a flash of footballing genius from Vini Jnr. On the night Haiti must feel aggrieved not to have gained a point as they really came into the game after we scored from what I have looked at. Anyway, job done irrespective of the quality of the performance. I am not sure 4-4-2 works over the course of a game, especially against teams we are expected to beat and it cedes the ball to the opposition. It worked for the goal with the opposition playing high up the field and a great long ball to Adams and then a bit of magic from Gannon-Doak to get the ball into the danger area. The ball falls to McGinn and two deflections later the nation is partying. From then on we are a man down in midfield and we gave a fairly rudimentary Haiti side far too much of the ball, and while they didn't really force a save from Gunn they spurned some decent chances. I am not sure if it may work better in phases against the Moroccans and Brazilians, a bit like our win against St Johnstone last season. Auld Jag Posted June 14 Report Share Posted June 14 Not a great game, but Scotland got the 3 points. Haiti looked not a bad team, but lacked somebody to put the ball in the net. If they can rectify that, they may take some points in the remaining games in the league section. Some of their players did seem to go down rather easily and reminded me of the Rangers player John MacDonald who was nicknamed 'Polaris', because he liked to dive.
