Now I see it's 3-4, ffs!! ETA: Well, that was wild. Ended up being easily the most entertaining game of the tournament, but more like a training outing than anything else. No wild celebrations after the goals, just smiles, brief hugs.... Basically nobody cares about third and fourth places. Before the last 5 minutes of extra time up came a notice on the screen: Spain 20 goal attempts, Argentina 0 goal attempts. The latter pretty much like Scotland, then. I was so glad when Spain finally scored, as I was thoroughly sick and tired of Argentina's constant fouling, play-acting, attempts to intimidate not just the referee but also other officials, mouthing off with fake scandalized faces at every decision that didn't go their way (of course they had had almost every decision going their way until now).... This is far from dead Hopefully Uefa and Concaf will hold their resolve (as I think this could be the end of current Fifa regime if so). I know many including your good self were not enamoured with Fifa pre World Cup ‘26 and events/happenings both during and now after it have swayed many more to lose interest in it. All corruption aside that half time show alone in final was enough and if that is what lies ahead then I would be more than happy for Scotland to have no part in it (though usually we do that anyway). The recent one had "hydration breaks" which was just a useful break to sell adverts. The invented peace prize and rescinding of the USA players red card was just more evidence that the world cup was sold to the USA. The only thing that wasn't revealed was who got paid. If Qatar wasn't a case of the world cup being sold to the highest bidder then I don't know what was. Russia in 2018 was very similar. So all FIFA and UEFA are really arguing about is the level of selling and probably more pragmatically who gets to profit from the next round of selling I suspect FIFA are posturing to get Infantino out. I suspect they hoped Infantino would do their bidding when he became FIFA president however he appears to have gone rogue and be only interested in lining his own pocket. The risk for FIFA is that in forcing Infantino out who replaces him? Unlikely to be another European given the last 2 have been from their and not covered themselves in glory. Or maybe it is just excessive greed, tho' I kinda think it's the power trip that's influencing him the most. Seems to be within Football governance you get two extremes, the ones who sit and do nothing to rock the boat or they're out and out mavericks like this fella. One thing about the powers that be that run Scottish Football is they can never be accused of being Mavericks. We're safe here. For instance say a journeyman player who played for example St Johnstone, St Mirren or even Thistle ever managed to reach a governing position. A post where he earned more in one year than perhaps in his entire playing career. It's hard to believe he'd do anything but toe the line.
