Was it him for taking too long ( surely not) was it Mark or Alex for complaining ? He just seemed to wave a card in the direction of everybody. jagfox Posted August 2 Author Report Share Posted August 2 Good to get the win, thats the bottom line and the players stuck at the task in hand until the final whistle was blown. First-half we tried to play through the middle and I feel that suited Morton. There were signs that theu are weak down the flanks such as GMS's effort off the woodwork. I would have preferred being a bit more decisive going forward as I feel an early goal could have opened the sluice-gate. We did pepper the woodwork and could have had three or four goals on another day. Second-half there were further examples with Lets'osa, Drodz and Fitzy carrying the ball with the latter effort crucial in creating the move for the winning goal. Plenty for Mark and Alex to observe, digest and work on. Morton were really very poor. Crested a couple of chances which much have been very low on the xG matrix. Their heads went down understandably when Tso'anelo finished nicely. I can see them struggling on the road against any side with a modicum of pace and creativity out wide. I will be interested to see how they get on against Stenhousemuir next weekend. The knocks received were a bit worrying. Lets'osa and Crawford were chasing shadows a bit at times. Really hope he can sharpen up in this aspect of his game. Re the highlights, there used to be commentary along with it. Maybe that’s a good thing, but I like having the commentary. HeWearsNumber9 Posted August 2 Report Share Posted August 2 If we are going to look to be a team who control games and possession this season then a midfield 3 that includes both Crawford and T in it is never going to bring success. As frustrating as T can be I love the energy he brings to the team, he pops up out wide and makes great runs in behind with pace to burn. His final ball ,touch and finishing lets him down badly though. Im really hoping Alex Rae can work some of the magic he did with Stanway onto T this year and improve him dramatically in the final 3rd. Otherwise he may find himself as a sub more often than not when both Dempsey and Stanway are fit. Crawford was extremely poor and we improved a lot when he came off. I’m really not sure what exactly what he brings to the team at this point and especially in games like that. Maybe he will still have is use along the way but he was miles off it yesterday. Not to sound to doom and gloom though, I am delighted with the result even if the performance wasn’t our best. We still created enough to have probably won the game by more on another day. The subs had a great impact and really flipped the game. Having 6 attacking players to chop and change with Stanway to add to the mix is really encouraging. I was fortunate enough to be right in line behind the goal. With the bounce and spin resulting from Drozd's blocked shot, it would have been so easy to slash at it wildly. Instead, with more composure than has normally been his hallmark, he had the presence of mind to control the ball down and into the net. Not the cleanest of strikes, but it served the purpose. Agree on Diack by the time he anywhere near ready to play it will be too late so I think another loan till Jan at least is required then assess from there. With the loan spots we still have available I think a striker needs to be one, hopefully we can find a young gem with a bit of pace who’ll chip in with a few goals from somewhere. A cb is a necessity at this point with injuries at the back as one of the other spots I would say for cover. I think it’s a fair assumption. Doubt their crowds will improve with the weather being decent and it being the first game of the season. The worse they get and the further into winter it gets if anything they will shrink further. There is also no other team in this division this season who will take as much as we did on Saturday. Infact, likely no other team will even take as much as half of 1380 for the rest of the season. Maybe the pars could stretch to 1k if its game with something riding on it near the end of the season. Could have been a straight red but certainly a yellow. I'll give officials plenty of latitude but when an incident could be career effecting you have to question why these clowns are allowed in the first place to be officiating.
