The Cabbage has done well despite being really left-footed. It obviously affects elements of his distribution but he has been pretty assured so far and could be another real diamond discovered by the scouting staff.

Hamilton's loss has been our gain.

Hopefully the cabbage can score against the cabbage next week!

Thought we were great last night, energy going forward, movement and winning almost ever second ball. The fact we still have a few to return from injury is encouraging too, but will give Wilson a good headache on selection. Early days but very positive especially with nearly 4000 in attendance and all bar a few (couple) hundred were Jags fans, the noise and Tifo in JLS was fantastic from the ultras, and a special shout out for the banner and chants for Davy Main on the 46th minute

If that is going to be a typical Drozd performance we are onto a winner. Pretty much everyone played well. Only Smyth was a bit off and I am still not sure how good the keeper is.

Agree that some of his decision making was not the best. Why did he decide to nut the post ?

On a positive note, when were we last clear at the top of the league ?

In terms of “a league” I think that it would be in the last couple of weeks of our League One winning run under McCall. I am open to correction here but I do not recall us hitting the top at any point since our return to the Championship.

Therefore in terms of the Championship it would have to be in our title winning season 2012-2013.

We were top of the table on 15th October 2022, then we went on a 5 game losing run

What’s happened to Davy Main?

IIRC did that not coincide with Ross Docherty being injured?

I seem to remember that 2 vital players received serious injuries in the away League Cup tie at Aberdeen, and it was after that our league form nosedived.

However, I cannot recall who the players were. Was it Docherty and Holt?

Wee bit of help needed please. Anyone on here able to tell me if there's ever a bad time to laugh at Morton?, Thanks

Did we not lose 4-0 at Ochilview early in the season some years ago?

Admittedly we did ultimately win the league which will perhaps escape Morton this season - then again perhaps not?

Not going to repeat comments made from other posters on how good we were on Friday but a couple of other aspects were worth mentioning.

Out set plays were very imaginative and clearly well drilled. The corner routine with Fitzpatrick and Drozd posed all sorts of problems and leads to the second goal but it wasn't the only deadball were we tried something not seen before

Drozd was very good and while I hope he can its unlikely that he can maintain that level all season. However were he may be an upgrade on Chalmers is that he can actually head the ball. Whilst Chalmers was a joy to watch at times I'm not sure that in the entire time of his spell with us that he won a header

Not only did he not win a header, he actually ducked underneath them or mainly did a big daft exaggerated jump way before the ball was head height to make it look as if he was trying to header it but in reality was nowhere near it. Used to drive me mad, even when it would have been a free header! Not that I’m matters at all now but had to get it off my chest 😂

Ah, I’ve read on LinkedIn that has incurable cancer. Such a shame, Davy is one of those decent blokes.

Agreed, he shirked out of tackles most of the time, just lightly lifting his foot and then withdrawing it before any contact with the ball (or the opponent's boot) might actually occur. Your description of aerial challenges is accurate. A lightweight, who when presented with a good chance of a clear run and/or a goal effort might produce one, but probably less than half the time. I see no reason to expect that to change, and he'll probably get found out in the Premiership.

The return ball from Drozd that led to the second goal was played with enough pace for Fitz to run onto it but with enough under spin that it didn’t go over the line. A beauty.
